Can you take a picture of that connector?

Are you sure it's not the regular MIC Jack that is mainly used for Speakers and Headphones? If so, then you just need this cable:

And then, just plug one to your monitor and the 2nd, to your Line Out / Speakers output in your sound card. :grin:

But if it's a different connector, maybe you need a special adpater...:???:

You can still try and contact your monitor retailer and/or go to a Radioshack and look for an adaptor. ;-)

GOOD LUCK! :icon_tiphat:

IBM had this weird monitor standard for a while... It had a oddball VGA cable and a odd Sound Card/Speaker connector. This was long, long ago but you monitor might still have it. (The want people only to use their monitor and speakers.

It runs Mic and Speakers off of one plug?

Only way to use it is if you have a proprietary IBM MoBo with onboard sound. I don't think you will be able to find an adapter. I quickly looked on NewEgg and didn't find one.

Or is a touchscreen also and that plugs into a keyboard or mouse port?

What is the model # of the monitor so we can do some research?

Good thought Scott, I though IBM got rid of the weird standards long ago... yet it is IBM, they can do some weird stuff so I never thought of touchscreen.

Yeah, it might help :grin:. That's what I call a challange. ;-)

I really like searching for information of old stuff over the net. :grin:

Maybe if we'll the exact model of the monitor, we'll be able to track down the cable and how to order it...or...at least find a schematic and then you can easily produce your own cable, if you have a bit experience in electronics and have some soldering skills (and even if not, I'm sure you'll be able to find someone that will do it for you). :grin:

So...waiting for the model number...:icon_tiphat:

If it is the 'touch screen' it may have been recalled in 2002 for starting fires if it is a 15" crt touchscreen of a particular model. G51 and G51t I think.

Found your plug info on Wiki...It is a MiniDin-7 and is used for sound and video. It was mostly used in the Commodore Plus/4 in the 80's but there are still some AV cards that use the this plug.

Yup. Here is a couple links;

Seems most of the cables come with one RCA and one S-video cable connector.
