Doesn't tell me anything, it just tells me...

Multithreaded Test 3 / HDD - Virus Scan N/A

On the results page and can't give me a score.

That is weird....I have no idea what went on there. First I heard of that.

***Edit*** Let's try a few things... Is the HT turned on in the bios? Can you run this test alone by itself and pass?

No, I payed $250 for a HT processor and leave it turned off... It is on. I ran it 3 times, same problem. Fresh from reboot, no programs running, nothing in bottom bar.

Damn, I have no idea Bro.....That sucks. Hopefully someone knows about this and come across this thread. I tried to google it and found other problems but not his one in particular.

Anyone else have this kind of problem? I would see if I get this error but I am too lazy to update the media encoders; or was it the Visual C++ files.... I don't know but there is one thing you have to install in order to successfully run every test.

Yeah you need windows media encoder 9 to run it. But I don't know if that would affect the HDD virus scan part though would it?

I have C++ and encoder 9, does it matter I don't have a Anti Virus installed?

Maybe that is the problem right there. It should have told you though if that was the problem, wouldn't it? Maybe through on one of those free antivirus things on the net somewhere and run it again. Maybe it will work. I thought it had its own program it ran for the test. That is an interesting thing actually for those who are keeping close score. If it does use your antivirus to do the scan part then that could be a factor for scores as some are more efficient then others.

What is a good free one?

Downloaded AVG let me try it one more time.

An anti-virus app isn't require to run PCmark05 so that is quite odd if that is the problem. Post a screenshot of that "AVG" error you are getting.

I don't get any error. I get this... AVG didn't help. http://service.futuremark.com/orb/resultanalyzer.jsp?projectType=13&XLID=0&UID=11857565

Hmmm so weird. Still trying to find it on google for ya. Let you know right away if I find something.

Did you watch the tests to make sure they completed? I can run all the test I can that doesn't require Visual C++ and any that require it tell me the test cannot run because of some missing required software.

Just like in 3dmark06 the app should tell you if it successfully completed all tests.

Every green bar finished...

Well I found the program they use in PCMark05 for the virus scan. It is called 'F-Secure' antivirus. They scan 600megs during the test and is mostly just read speeds according to the futuremark white pages.

Maybe its actually finding something and the detection code breaks the process

LOL! That is a good point, I better run AVG...

either that or the files used for that scan are missing from your copy of PCmark 05? can you try a diff copy of the pcmark proggy?

I also noticed from what scores you did get. the HDD seemed to performing really slow.... could this be part of the issue?

Miker

It is SATA Raid 0; it is fast.

well thats even worse. you were gettin a 12mb/s read on XP start up from a raid 0 array?

I just ran it last night and I also have raid 0 but XP startup was only ~8MB/s although writing a file goes at 82MB/s :|

This should be better once I raid 0 across 4 sata drives :)

Still doesn't work... It seems to be a one of a kind problem. Could it have anything to do with my L3 Cache on my EE processor?
