im getting a custom comp, but should I build it myself or pay some guy at the store to do it, (i believe its free..)? its obviously my first time.. is it too hard/risky to put it together on my own if i've never done it before?

"Trust some tech guy at a computer store or built it myself?,... thats a hard one,... uh, build myself."
If you do it yourself you'll learn and won't have to depend on some guy who may or may not know what they are doing. You can do some cable management too if you do it yourself and putting a computer is not as hard as you may think.
One of my brothers buddies was waiting in a computer store while his system was being put together and he could hear the technician in the other room swearing and making a whole bunch of banging noises. Turns out all this was was happening when the technician was installing the CPU heatsink. You never know what those technicians do when they put a computer together.

You'd be far better off doing it yourself. Keep your old computer and a camera handy and we'll talk you through it.

You should read some guides and really make sure you know what you are getting in to. Even people that have built many PCs like me still have problems sometimes. The community here is good so we will be able to help you out, but just know building your own PC will drive you insane sometimes.
P.S. DO NOT TRUST TECH GUYS AT YOUR PC STORE!

well it sounds good, but.. I dont want to be completely useless and asking mass questions.. does anyone know any good tutorial sites? i've been reading through wiki, its very good, but im sure there are better guides that focus just on building a comp n what i need to know o_O

Seeing your posts around here I would say you have a low "Geek" level. I don't know a guild but someone will sure post one for you. There is nothing wrong with asking lots of questions on your first build.

Trying to guide a user on how to build a computer by using a forum ain't the best solution.

I meant about building PCs, not helping through step by step.
