Hi, I recently bought a new XFX 7950GT video card. It works for new games on LOW and MEDIUM settings. But when I max out graphics, the game runs only for a short amount of time, then the computer either crashes to desktop, or blue-screens and restarts. I would appreciate advice on this.

Thanks.

Is this PCI-e or AGP?

What are the rest of your system specs, PSU, Mobo, RAM ect?

AGP XFX 7950GT 256Meg (Not SLI)
Athlon 64 3200+
1 Gig Ram
Motherboard: Soltek SL-K8AV2-RL
500 Watt Power Supply
Service Pack 2
Mobo?

Would that be all? I think that covers the most important parts.

Im guessing that you are running PCI-Express for your video card. Have you tried testing your ram. That used to happen to me when I had bad ram. Use memtest and run it over night, you can use it by booting it up like an OS disc.

here is an .iso file, you will need to mount this on a CD using nero or another burning program.

This is the latest version of memtest:

Sounds like a driver or RAM problem. Run a Mem-Test and tell us what you get.

Thanks everyone for all your advice, I seem to have fixed the problem. It was a driver problem all along. The original drivers which came on the disc did not work, so I installed the latest drivers. They did not work either. So I installed the second-latest drivers and they work perfectly.

Yaa, this card is picky on drivers... I took 2 drivers to get the water in FarCry to look right.
