Well I took my 6700 to 3.5 ghz and did a 9 hour stress test. I'm not sure if it is stable at lower volts I just upped the volts from 1.325 stock to 1.425

Do you think those temps are reasonable for that voltage/clock with my cooler? Should I push the clock as high as it can go at that voltage?

Grats on 3.5GHz, you got it .1GHz more then my 5 year old processor is at stock! (3.4GHz P4 Extreme Edition Hyper 478 Pin) To bad your FSB is like 2x faster then mine, with 2x more Core!

Yaa, I wouldn't overclock any more with that Temp.

If I increase the FSB but not the voltage, the temps wouldnt go up all that much would they?

Try, just don't let them get over 95. 100 is boiling, and boiling $250 processor just sounds sooo tasty!

Holy :ahhhhh:

Nice overlock. If I were you I'd watch those temps though. It's getting really close to the "danger zone."

Hey, at least if you blow a Core you still have a spare one!

Lol yeh I suppose. I bought this processor when it came out in Australia and it was $700 at the time, now its bout 250 or something

Ahh if only I had $3.5k again!

lol the Q6600 G0 is under $290 if u look at www.staticice.com.au lol

things get cheap quickly over time don't they?

Looks fine to me. The temps are a little high for my personal tastes, but as long as it's under 60*c then it should be fine. I like having my cpu under 50 though.

His is at 81*...

maybe its me, but it looked more like 62 degrees in coretemp.
Its a hella nice OC, and nice temp for a voltage bump !
I would try to go a bit higher, because with that voltage you could go a bit higher...
have you tried lowering the multiplier?
have you touched your other voltages at all?

For air cooling I wouldn't go over 1.5V. If you do the key is to watch your temps.

That would not be a comfortable overclock for me. I like my temps low to give me breathing room for when I really work it hard.

Ye it was 62 in core temp, and 54 from the cpu diode thingy (same one that bios reads) Unfortunatly havnt had time to keep overclocking, I'll try on monday night but I'm gonna take it in steps from here no more big leaps

Oh and the only settings I have changed so far are the fsb and the vcore. Unfortunatly again I cant lower the mulitplier on this board :( If I could I would be trying for 400fsb to get 1 to 1 with my ram. As it is I will need a 4hz o'clock to get 1/1 lol

if i were you, i would drop the volts and still see if its stable. even though temps are fine, ur voltages that high kill ur CPU slowly. i would either see how high u can go with those volts, or see how low volts u can get with 3.5ghz

Run TAT and see what temps you get. If you can get it to stay at safe enough temps under TAT then nothing should be able to get it any hotter.
