View Full Version : Has anybody got 8800 Ultra XXX replacement?

I recently sent my 8800 Ultra XXX back to XFX for replacement.
They said the card is rare so they even don't know when they can get some 8800 ultra XXX from the factory. so XFX will send me Extreme version which is right below the XXX version and will replace once they have triple X version in stock.

Has anybody got XXX replacement recently? It is not discontinued, is it?
Can you share your story about how long it took to get XXX?

I know they are very rare, I tried to get one for SLI on my rig and could not.

I have never seen someone get one as a replacement. Personally, I would ask for 2x 8800GT/X as a replacement if you can handle SLI.

I agree, for that price you paid for your ULTRA's. That would be even better.

You might be able to get 2x 8800GT XXXs. That will blow away your one ultra.

If your RMA is with our US office and you indeed are interested in trading in for different video cards instead of waiting for a XXX version, PM me your RMA number and I can look into it for you.

I have talked to XFX customer service and they said it is possible to trade my card in and get the other one but not sure about giving me 2x 8800 GT at this moment.

Also, they said 8800 Ultra XXX is not discontinued and it just takes some time to get it from the factory. They said there is about few days to week delay to get 8800 Ultra XXX.

What they are going to do now is sending me a loaner's card which is 8800 Ultra Extreme Edition for now and once they get 8800 Ultra XXX, they will send me the right one.

Thanks guys for your reply and I will update once XFX gives me the options to trade-in.

Even if I had the option between a Ultra XXX and dual 8800GT XXXs when I was making a PC I would go 8800GTs.

Yeah, Miker, you are right about the fact.
But, I just wanted to keep it because the card is rare and top of the line.
I have ASUS Striker Extreme mobo and will try to put 2 GTs in it later, so I have 2 running computers. Until then, I think 8800 Ultra XXX is the best single card option.
