hi, i got a brand new system
intel q6600
gigabyte p31 ds3l mobo
XFX8800GT
4g 800mhz patriot ram

anyways, set everything up, all turned on fine, installed 64bit vista, got mobo drivers and vid card drivers, restarted computer but wouldnt restart, the vid card fan spins at max and nothing comes up on screen. ive tried switching monitors but no luck. ive checked that all connections are tight but cant find anything physically wrong

is my vid card dead? maybe something i can try?

New systems are always tough to trouble shoot. Try removing all the connections (ensure the ATX power connector is attached along with the 24pin), you can also try using one stick of RAM at a time. If possible can you test some of the components in another system?

Same here, full load fan and nothing appears to work, the VGA works perfectly in other system. XFX 8800gt Extreme 640@1900 (manufacturer default)

Is not the PSU cuz in the other system i tried the VGA, i installed my own psu just to make sure the power consumition is not a problem (antec true power 2.0 sli ready 550watts).

I read people flashing the 8800gt Bios, (with bios gen1 of other manufacturer, but the brand of the card wasnt xfx neither), i tried that solution and is not working.

Anyone can help us? Is just so anoying this issue, everywhere says that the card will work on a 1.0 pci-e mainboard. Nonwhere tells, or get some advisor about posible incompatibilities. XFX main support and ABIT tech support, both of them haven t answer my questions.

My system spects: AMD Atlhon 3700+ San diego, Abit KN8 SLI, Twin Gskill 2x1GB ddr 400 memory, Antec True power 2.0 Sli-Ready 550 PSU.

i repeat, the card works perfectly in other system that i tried (running crysis and gears of war both at high quality and 1440x900), using my PSU.

I'm having similar problems - fails to be detected by the Winfast K8M890M2MA-RS2H motherboard and the fan is very noisy (running flat out constantly). I've checked that the XFX card works ok in another PC (motherborad was a ASRock 939Dual-SATA2).
I tested another graphics card successfully - a Sapphire X1800XT.
I updated the Winfast m/b bios without any affect (641W1P39.zip)

Sounds like a new video bios is badly needed :(

For the older boards, I know there were some incompatabilities with the VIA chipset running 8800's, does that apply to any of you guys? If so, there should be a mobo BIOS that addresses that issue.

Correct, if you have a VIA chipset you should double check with the motherboard manufacture to see if they have a fix. If not start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com and we can email you a BIOS, that is not a fix but a work around allowing the video card and motherboard to work together.
