I have a relativly new (6 mths) 7900gs that is now producing strange strobing ground artifacts in WOW, only on certain textures and usually very close to the screen / point of view. ie something passes very close to the screen as in leaf (while flying) or ground textures in Stormwind ie bricks.

Recently I have started playing Overlord again and it is also showing this exact same strobing of small artifact blocks, mainly in the sky. These artifacts or blocks are always the same size and vary in strobing to the monitor sync a Samsung 226BW 1680 x1050 @60hz.

This also appears when running 3dmark05 during the ballon closeups on the mans clothes and odd other textures as again these same shaped strobing blocks

I have tried every version of driver and every conceivable setting and other than antialiasing making it worse nothing gets rid of it. The only thing i can think of thats new is the 226BW Lcd.

As of today it will actually show up in the Nvidia control panel preview with setting at quality or balanced, but goes away on performance (on the 3d image).

I have read every forum and every topic possible and nothing fixes this or suggests a solution that worked. Any insight or help would be greatly appreciated.

Try this, if this doesnt work tell us, that way we can tell you another method:
1. Download the latest Nvidia drivers
2. Download Driver Cleaner (http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.php?id=745&file=7&evp=944289588d7e3bd7968f23a5e41348fd) (Its Freeware)
3. Uninstall any pre-existing or old drivers
4. Restart PC in safe mode and run driver cleaner - clean the nvidia drivers
5. Restart agian normally
6. Reinstall the latest Nvidia drivers - and retstart the computer agian

Yes, looks like a driver problem.

I have tried every driver imaginable and ensured I cleaned out the old drivers etc.

I agree it seems like a driver or settings issue, however you would think one of the versions would fix or change this. Even the original cd driver does this.

I should try my old 19" crt to see if it might be a 226Bw issue or maybe i never noticed the strobbing before and its alway been there on the 7900gs.

Also try swapping the RAM or just one stick at a time since RAM can also cause artifacts. But if that doesnt help start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com and let me know the ticket number.

Like what XFXSupport said, try swapping out the Ram sticks and run memtest on them...

Ok, not sure how ram would cause any graphics issues and only in a few games but what the heck will try it.

Ram can cause so many problems you couldn't list them all.
