The Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?
Are you using your Right or Left Brain? I found this test very nice, try it yourself!!! ;-)

ummmm, i do not believe this is real at all. for one. The dancer spun on way for me then abruptly changed directions. and never went back to the other direct till i cleared temps. cookies etc and she did the same.
its an animations guys, it spins the way the guy who made it wanted it to.
ohhhh, wait upon further stairing i realize she just switches directions whenever she feels like it.
well no, i deff. think this is an animation as the dancer went one way for a period of time then the other
and then back again.

I don't know...I still think it's REAL and not FAKE, as I've showed it to people and some of them really saw she was turning anti-clockwise and when they looked again, they saw she was turning clockwise, while I was staring at the image at the same time, and I saw her ALWAYS turning clockwise...that's STRANGE...:???:

It's AMAZING!!! I finally managed to see her turning BOTH directions.
It's true, I sometimes see her turning clockwise, then leaving the page opened for a couple of minutes, come back and then she spins anti-clockwise...THAT'S CRAZY!!! :ahhhhh:
I'm now sure it's NOT FAKE, becasue while I was watching her spinning both clockwise and anti-clockwise, my wife was watching and the same time and saw her spinning ONLY clockwise!!! Go figure...:jawdrop:

no matter how i look at it she is only turning clockwise. ive probably spent a whole day lookin at that thing now and still only clockwise

11-23-2007, 04:31 PM
its the exact opposite for me, she starts off clockwise and if i stare/focus on her she seems to eventually switch up to counter clockwise.
at one point it honestly looked like she wanted to spin both ways at once, the my head started to hurt and i gave up. LOL

It's not hard to force her to switch directions in your mind. You just have to change your "perspective". If she looks like she is spinning clockwise, your perspective is looking down at a slight angle at her. If she looks like she is spinning counter-clockwise, your perspective is looking up at a slight angle at her. It's hard, but you can switch it in your mind and see the opposite spin.
When I first went to the page she was spinning counter-clockwise and then I glanced away to read the text and all of the sudden she was spinning clockwise. It took about a minute before I was able to switch back. And then I was able to switch back and forth without too much strain. ;-)
It's a good picture to use to train yourself to see things differently. Nice find.

Here's the interesting thing. She spins clockwise for me at first. Then, as I read the list for the right minded people, she starts spinning counter clockwise. As I start reading the left list, she goes back to clockwise.
Now I can make her switch almost on command.

I finally got the trick!!! As soon as I take my sight a bit to the left (reading the left side talking about the "left" brain, she starts spinning clockwise and...as soon as I move my eyes to the right, in order to read about the "right brain", she starts spinning anti-clockwise!!! AMAZING!!! Now I can easily control her direction... That's one of the most amazing/interesting things I've ever seen. It just shows how complex and amazing our brain is...:jawdrop:

Well I have looked at this three different times, each time I looked at feet, looked at hands, looked at head, looked at whole thing, from left, from right, five min, ten min, too many minutes, and I only see her moving clockwise. If the test is true, the description of right brain, is pretty accurate for me.
Consider that I am a priest and Santa

There's one thing I've seen mentioned over the years regarding left vs. right brain dominance that has been left out of the descriptions on that page. People with left brain dominance typically are right handed by nature and people with right brain dominance typically are left handed.
I'm right handed and certainly more left brain dominant, but when I first go to that page she appears to turn clockwise, which, according to them, is more right brain dominant. So I wouldn't put too much stock into the test to determine which hemisphere you use most. ;-) But, as I mentioned above, it is a good way to train your self to see things differently.

I really don't know if its a good test, it may or may not work, and in any case its probably no more or less accurate then being left or right handed, since you will always find exceptions to the rule. (like me right handed, but very right dominance, Anyways, my point was not so much the test, as the description of right minded and left minded as it pertains to me. But I do think your left minded argument points out the difference of perspective between the two of us very nicely. :icon_tiphat:
by the way love the name, second favorite monster after the one an only Godzilla.

This is an optical illusion more then a right brain left brain thing.
This is possible due to the fact that this is a black figure with no depth to it. There is no way to determine where the light source is coming from by looking at her. The Key to this all is the shadow she creates. Your mind will try to fill in where it thinks the light source is coming from on its own and depending on what you concentrate on the shadow or her determines what way you see her spin. We broke the image down at work frame by frame and she always spins clockwise. When you see her spin anti-clockwise you are seeing the optical illusion created by the shadow not being in sync with relationship to her.
If you need to know what side of your brain is more dominant than the other do this.
Face an Object about 15-20 feet away.
Point at it with both eyes open.
Now close your right eye without moving your hand at all.
If you are still pointing right at or very close to the object you are left brain dominant.
If you are way off the target you are right brain dominant.
Try to do this without thinking too much about it and let it happen naturally. With concentrating it is possible to fake this test.
The right hand left hand thing is not really true as you can learn to write with any hand at a young age when we learn to write. There are people i know that are left handed but write right handed case that is how they where forced to learn. I believe long long ago it was see as a sign of the devil if you wrote with your left hand. Although I am not even 90% sure of that.
I have been proven time and again that I am Left brained. According to this test i am right brain as i see her going clockwise all the time. This is wrong I am left brained. If I trick my brain into seeing her go the other way i can but not for long my brain figures out that something is not right and she spins in the direction she should once again. The only way i can trick my brain is to not actually look at her but some where else but still be able to see her out of the conner of my eye.

At first it was spinning clockwise but then after a couple minutes of looking it would randomly change directions then another 30 minutes later i figured out how it worked and now i can get it to change directions or get it to move in both when ever i want. In a way you have to believe in what direction its spinning.
