Hey Guys,

I have already bought my dads christmas present, and I am writing this message on it right at the moment. :)

I bought him a newly built computer. His old computer was a Athlon XP 1.6Ghz processor and a 512mb 133Mhz DDR memory and you don't want to know the rest. haha

Here is the specs of the computer I just built for him. He is not a gamer or any graphical guy. He only uses his computer for work like electronic circuit calculations and all that so he mainly uses his processor for work.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33Ghz Dual-Core Processor
2GB 667Mhz DDR2 Memory
Saphire ATI x1300 128MB PCI-E video card
Gigabyte Intel P35 Motherboard
160GB Wester Digital SATAII Hard Drive
650Watt Mushkin Modular Power Supply
Tagan Monolith II case (Thanks to Zachig)

And So on....

As you can see I didn't really get a good video card, but he would not use a good video cards performance anyways, so I just settled with that. :)

What do you guys think. Is he going to be happy from what computer system he is moving from?

Edit: I will actually be upgrading my systems computer, she has a 2.0Ghz Pentium 4 and 1GB of DDR Memory and a x5600GT with some new things too. I will be giving her my current computer except the memory and the video cards and I will give her a ASUS Geforce 8500GT 256MB DDR3 OC video card. She does not play that many video games, and even when she plays, she kind of playes the old games so that should be good enough. So that should be my sisters computer.

As a matter a fact, I also got myself a Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme cooler, which I am going to use on my newly built computer system when the new quad-cores with the 45nm architecture come out. :) I am so waiting for that day. :)

THats a damn fine upgrade for your father. I actualy did the same for mine! When i bought my motherboard, cpu, and ram i gave him my old stuff.

He had
AthlonXP 2600+
1gig PC2700 dual channel
9800XT

I gave him
AthlonX2 4800+
3gig PC3200 dual channel
and i gave him my second 7950GT

Oh yea, 133mhz is SDRAM, not DDR ;)
Slowest DDR they make is PC1600 which i believe is 200mhz.

Nice upgrade, If i was your father i would be happy. The only thing that would make my Dad happy is a 454 engine for his El camino or Chevy Nova SS but thats way out of my budget.

Also we have another with a Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme. Best decision you will ever make peti.

And some new 60s in the back (I kinda burned em off lolll) I cant afford that either. But i DID find a 428 Cobra Jet for 1200 brand new. What a deal, still cant afford :(

It's actually a really nice case. As I was putting together everything and the first time I turened it one, I liked it a lot. It might not be really geeky and professional, but it serves well for a standard computer that you want to keep cool. :)

I know he will, this will be his coolest case and computer yet. The processor and motherboard is actually better than mine, but what can you do. I want my dad to be happy. He never had a shiny LED cases before, so this will be new. :)

Well I got a 22" Gateway Monitor from him two weeks ago. :) I was really happy. It is really nice because it has that shiny glossy finish on the screen, and it has many different outputs: HDMI, DVI, Composite, S-Video and VGA on it. Preety coool if you ask me. It also does not have buttons but it has a built in touchpad that allows you to control the screen. It's HD quality so it is really nice. :) That's what I got from him so far as an early christmas present. :) I am waiting till January because I heard that the new Quad-Cores are coming out in January from Intel, and maybe pick up a nForce 780 board with it as well. :)

Well hopefully he will be happy. He has been stuck with his old Athlong XP for about 4 years now, so this should be great for him. :)
