Well, with my entry to the air force coming upon me, I have decided to not spend my $600Au on a gfx card, but on a sub and amp for my newly aquired '88 corolla hatchback.

For the Sub I'm looking at either:

A Pioneer TS-W307D2 http://www.pioneer.com.au/products/car_entertainment/Subwoofers/ts_w_subwoofer_range/index.html

Alpine Type-S

Alpine Type-R

Costs of these vary significantly but I've been told with different amp combos they can all sound as good, though right now its looking to be the Pioneer, as it is good sound for the price and can buy it locally, or the Type-S for the better sound and is located in a town not too far away. The Type-R a little expenisve. There was a digital designs once, the DD1512a that was suggested but cant find anything on it.


For the amp:

Pretty sure its going to be the Jaycar Precision Response Car Amp 2x150WRMS

It is 150 each channel but when you put both channels at 2ohms and bridge them, you get a 500wrms 4 ohm signal, perfect for the sub :)

A mate is gonna build a box for me for $50Au, he is damned good at it, I've seen his custom fibre box's he makes for sound comp guys.

Then prolly fork out $70 on all the wiring and routing through the car.

Goodbye boto space lol.

I am NOT doing this to be cool. I plain and simply love the feel and sound of bass, and have for as long as I can remember. :)

If I had enough $$ i would have bought the snowboarding helmit with mini-subs and earphones built into it haha.

Anyhow I just ordered the Jaycar Response 1000WRMS Linkable Car Monoblock Amplifier second hand for $300, RRP is 400, and its basically brand new condition.

Now, I'm deciding between the type-s ($300), the pioneer 307D2 (160) (leaning towards type-s) ORRR the digital design 512 (250 i think i think) orrr a second hand 12" treo ($450, RRp at 800) which comes with a ported box

You have to be carefull with your ohmage on that amp. If its 1000watt RMS it might be 4 or 2 ohm. If thats the case youll need either 2 or 3 8 ohm 12" speakers to reach potential power without blowing the amp.

As yall already know me and my dad have been in the PA business (him more than me obviously) and just got out. 2 of our sub cabinets are 3200watt a piece. Naturaly my friend Jerry was like dude i want an 18" like that for my car! I didnt warn him at all about anything so he bought it. Then he was like dude i can get a Sony Xplod amp 1000watt for 150 bucks. So he did. Just the other day i was like sooo dude did you ever consider this?

That 18" Low Rider is 3200watt peak, 1600watt RMS, and 1200watt program @ 8ohm. That amp is 1000watt peak power @ 2ohm. Or in other words 500x2 @ 4ohm in stereo. Hes like....what does that mean. I was like that means youll need 3 of those 18" speakers honkin on that little bitty amp to reach max capacity. And dont forget thats PEAK power...1000watts @ 2ohm. Needless to say, hes pissed lol.

So please please make sure you check everything first. You dont want to end up spending money like him and seem like an idiot. (Even though the speaker was only 150 bucks)

Pretty sure that I have it sorted though. The guy I'm buying the sub off has had it wired down to 1 ohm, which will match the 1ohm output of the amp nicely. The extra 250wrms that the amp will be putting out compared to the sub wont matter, i've seen him run that sub off of 2300watts, he had it tuned perfectly (he goes in sound comps, used to do it with that one, but now he has a Digital Designs 9510 that he uses 3000+watts on)

So yeh I trust him to set it up for me :)

I have a Precision Power PCX-1250 Mono amp along with two 12" Infinity 1230W subs and that's enough bass for me.

Oh and westy its ok to have more wattage on your amp than you have for speakers. You always want extra headroom so you can run the amp at lower levels instead of max. You get better quality that way with no distortion.

I mean just at school, during recess it smelled like weed all over school and no one does a damn about it.

All my friends, even I used to smoke so much.
Of course those days are gone but I had my fair share of mari, speed, xtacy and all that crap.
My ex still smokes, it used to piss me off though.
I have health problems now, or it might be psychological but I can`t take anything like caffein anymore.
Back in the days I could stay up for 4 or 5 days without sleeping and eating just a little.
I used to take Sudafeds (Cough medecine aka Ephederine) wakeups and asperins before I went boxing.

Dont ever try that people, even if you play hockey or whatever, it will *(&(*& you up as you grow older.
I cant drink coffee anymore or ill feel like ima pass out.

I used to smoke weed, but I just quit a dew months ago, as all my friends stopped for different reasons, so actually I was "forced" to quit as well, as I don't have where to get the "stuff" from anymore! :frown: ;-)

But yeah, I don't see anything bad in smoking weed from time to time, but not on a regular basis.

I personally don't think it's addictive, as other "hard" drugs are, and I even think that cigarrettes are much more addictive.

And regarding cigarettes, I'm going to TRY and quit smoking (again) TODAY (yeah...SEIROUSLY)...:lol:

After smoking cigarrettes for more than 14 years now, about 12-15 cigarrettes per day, I quit smoking about a year ago for more than 4 months, but for some reason I was stupid enough to start smoking again, so I think it's time for me to try quitting again...

Addictive or not, it doesn't really matter.

I guess you're right, some people can get "hooked" faster than others.

But, I'm not going to argue with you, as I'm NOT smoking weed anymore and I don't feel addicted (again, it's ME PERSONALLY).

But, I DO find it hard much more to quit smoking cigarrettes.

BTW, I've just won an Omaura TF8 HTPC Case over www.MissingRemote.com (http://www.MissingRemote.com) forums.

It's a GREAT HTPC Case from Omaura company. Although Omaura is a quite new "player" in the field of Media PCs, it looks like a GREAT case and it comes with a built in OLED display and arrives also with an Included "Vista Certified" IR Units with Remote Control.

Since it is being shipped from China, I guess it'll take about 2-3 weeks till I'll get it, so in the meantime, I already started saving money for the parts I'm going to put in it. :grin:

Since I already have a spare 120GB HD, at least for the beginning I'm going to use this one and save the money of a new HD.

Well...me neither. It's actually going to be my first HTPC build, but I think it's about time for me to have HTPC system, as I already own a 42" Sharp Aquos LCD TV, so the new HTPC will be a nice add-on to it! :grin:

Wow this thread blew up over a day. Weed is most def a drug. My ex is hxc on it, and becasue of it shes doing pills really bad. Last night while i was at an Avenged Sevenfold concert she had to be rushed to the ER and charcoaled. (Hehe anybody know what that is? Means you **** and puke brown for a week) Anyways it is most def a gateway drug as well. But i believe the gateway part to be more of a peer thing than anything. Like her friend wanted to do heroine so she was gonna try it. Yea, she got a lot of crap from me on that one. Im so natzi against alot of things becasue ive done my fair share of stupid things. All year, everyday before school in the bleachers me and a friend would pop some Angel Dust. By the end of the year i didnt even know my own name. My JR year i got highly addicted to Hydrocodine. Taking about 2000mgs a day. It made me really mean and one time i overdosed. Here comes the charcoal. Made me quit doing anything period. It was so nasty. I think shes gonnna quit too.

Now as to the comment of all alcohol is nasty. UNTRUE!! Buttery Nipples have to be like the best tasting shot ever!!! I can drink those all night hehe.

And i agree prizes make you spend ALOT of money. I had to buy a new mobo for my 7950GT when i got it.

I just enjoy playing Avenged Sevenfold tunes cause i can get into them. They relax me, and they are easy, but complicated at the same time. That one had no solo. My fav song Second Heartbeat has a pretty awesome solo but i cant really play it cause i havent taken the time to really learn it (whoops haha).

Dude i cant play any John lol. But im working on Holy Diver from Killswitch Engage. Its in Drop C tuning which is a pain for me to tune a floyd type bridge with. I need to get a new string for my RG and Flying V. Ill learn the lead on the V and play it on Youtube for ya. Ill post when i have it up. Right now, so many people want A7X cause thats what im best at. *sigh* lol
