View Full Version : Only IE works

Well my uncle is stubborn as hell and doesn't want to reinstall windows on his computer i have been trying to persuade him for a month already. The computer is running like *&^%. Well the problem i can't seem to fix which is only one of many, is only IE works for the net Firefox just says unable to connect and the antivirus/spyware aps can't update either they get a socket error and the games on the computer can't autoupdate either. Iv'e done everything i can think of.

Check the settings for firefox under tool>options but more likely would be firewall settings.

Used to use a firewall program that blocked ALL SORTS of things without telling me. BLAH what a horror story that was!

Jeez i hate my uncles computer after 4 days of trying to get the net to work now it just up and decides to start working. His other computer worked fine its just this one felt like acting up. Well thanks for the help guys maybe i should just throw a brick at the computer next time it does something.

HAHAHA....I did something similar once to my fathers Compaq. I kicked it really hard and then all of a sudden it worked great....well for a Compaq anyway. It still has the big dent on the side of the case. I think it was hard drive related and the kick knocked something loose and it was able to spin normally again. Damn thing made all kinds of racket and caused all kinds of errors. Who would have thought that a well place aggravated kick would have done the trick?

A good hit to the side of anything electronic always works. My Tv finally has a whole on the side of it from constantly punching the side of it so that it turns on. Now i punch the otherside i will probably have to toss it once i have no area left to hit.
