Yeah it's a great game and I hope they do more with it, though in retrospect as short as it and Episode 2 were I wished I had not jumped on the $37 sale for Orange Box at Fry's. Team Fortress 2 isn't of value to me as I don't play mp anymore and I already owned the other titles it contains. Best Buy just had it for $25.
There is a hint in Episode 2 that we may see something to do with the Portal gun in Episode 3. I think Episode 3 is going to be written for quad cores too. Valve has said they have already had success with advanced use of AI physics and effects in writing for quads. Highlight text below to reveal spoiler.
There's a ship called the Borealis that Gordon Freeman is trying to get to in Episode 2 that is way up north in the arctic. There is a container on the ship shown in Eli Vances video communication with Alyx that says Aperture Science on it.

It's not much of a spoiler really, more like hint of what might happen in Episode 3. It's only one little glimpse on the video screen Alyx is communicating on, nothing more. In fact it's so subtle a lot of people didn't even see it, and like I said, just a guess at what might happen in Episode 3.

Portal is undoubtedly the best puzzle game I've ever played.
You gotta use momentum!

I was commenting the other day on the Sierra forum it would be interesting to combine the elements of the games Portal and TimeShift into one hell of a crazy puzzle game.

I've really enjoyed Portal (just got the game for Christmas) and I keep cracking up going back and reading the little sayings. Pretty damn funny IMO.

That's definitely a good deal. Got around playing the game yet?
And yea, the ending credits are rly creepy
I am (apparently) one of the few, that thinks Portal was a silly, limited and simple game. The fact that one can only place portals on a limited number of surfaces, is a testament to the creators limited creativity, as they want you to find exactly the solution they had in mind. Too me, it is without a doubt, the most overrated game of 2007 - Not because it is a bad game, but because of its hype and the cult status it has achieved.
This is of course just my own opinion, and have no hostility towards anyone that thinks differently. I love the OB, but not because of Portal.

Well, it really wouldn't be that much of a challenge if you could put the portals on any surface would it? Portal is fun, but not the game of the year in my book, but still made you think through the challenges.

It would be a challenge, if the design of the levels took that into account. The designers would just have to think more themselves. Portal was somewhat entertaining at first and it did make me think, but I only got through 13 or 14 levels before I was too bored, and then decided to play HL2 EP2.

Hey guys, I just bought Orange Box last week. I already owned most of the games. So now I have HL2 and HL2 EP 1 as gifts to give. Everybody I know already has them, anybody need them?

I haven't actually played either HL2 or HL2 Ep1 ;) I'd gladly take them off of your hands, I am located in Canada... ;) :P

Just PM me your e-mail address and I will send it to you in the morning when I get home from work. Steam gifts are fairly cool, it just asks for the e-mail address of the person you want to send it to and then it probably sends you a link to get Steam, so you can download the games. Not a bad system really.

Im so glad im not the only one that thinks this game was a waste of download time. I just finished playing Episode 1 and im prolly gonna try and beat it by tonight. Does anybody know if EP1 and 2 fully utilize dual core? If so ill stop folding on my second core.

Yay for being bashed for having an opinion on a game. Im sorry i dont follow the trend and im not afraid to speak the fact that i think its a pointless stupid game. Valve should stick to FPS.

Thanks for the info and recommendation, as I'm planning nowadays on purchasing the "Orange Box" for myself. :icon_tiphat:
I've never played HL2, not mentioning Episode 1 and 2. So it'll be great to have all in one package (HL2, EP1, EP2 and Postal), mainly after I just finished COD4 and Crysis and I have nothing to play (types of games I like) at the moment...:frown:
Im so glad im not the only one that thinks this game was a waste of download time.
It wasn't a waste of time to me, but just something that falls far short of all the hype, love and cult status. My expectations were sadly too high for the end product, and I would have enjoyed it more, if I had never heard anything about the game. Continously I thought "Is this it?", and when eventually realization struck (it was only that) I was puzzled by peoples (extremely) positive reactions.
Hating something makes you cool.

No, going with the flow and trends makes you cool. Being a follower makes you cool and accepted by most, obviously. Few likes those who have a different opinion than their own, but don't think too much about it...
That said, I don't hate the game, but I sure don't like it either. Not a gaming experience I would like to repeat, but to each his own. I accept others opinion/review as just that: a limited view stated by a single individual, nothing more, nothing less, but I accept that others don't share that mentality. I listen to peoples recommendations, but I do not follow their views about what is recommended, no matter how cool or hated my view will be.
Take care all.

LOL, you guys don't need to get all touchy about it. Hey, everyone has their opinion. Portal was not even a reason why I wanted the Orange Box, I mainly wanted TF2. I heard all the hype and still had fun playing it. I didn't think it was anything groundbreaking, but thought the dialogue was pretty entertaining and it was a nice time waster. Like I said, to me it was a nice bonus but I really didn't care about the game before getting it. I still have yet to finish HL2, let alone Ep 1 or 2. :(
