Did we all of a sudden kick some major booty or is the database messed up. A month or so ago we where like 400 something.

HEHEHE, My girlfriends PS3 is sure helping. Damn thing is making WU's left right and center and not small one's either like the Radeon cards do.

I have 7 cores going right now to try and rack up my scores. To bad im getting little crappy WUs instead of long good ones. More points FTW!

I had the feeling we are pretty much on the same spot for ages. Every time i check we somewhere close to 250th place. Maybe i'm mistaken but i'd swear we've been holding the same position for the last 3-4 months at least.

I am under the same impression... Maybe the database got messed up when you looked at it Scott and we are actually 250ish and not 400ish. Just throwing it out there.

I know my rig is down right now so i am not helping out right now sorry.

01-03-2008, 02:39 PM
We've been near 250 for awhile yes, but 248 is the lowest I recall seeing us reach as of late. Its really interesting, every week we get passed by ~3 teams, but then pass 3 or 4 teams ourselves, so we are still slowly climbing up there.

Yeah, the last time I checked we were at the 252th place, and I think it was MORE than a month ago, Scott.

But, it's still VERY IMPRESSIVE, as we've never reached that high (248th).

:keepfolding: guys and hopefully we'll see ourselves soon aobve 200th...;-)

Im just happy that within a month im in the top 50 of our team.

Nocutius
01-06-2008, 03:04 PM
Well getting to top 50 is quite easy considering that almost nobody below that place is an active folder. It took me more than half a year to get to top 15, with a small possibility of being able to climb among the top 10 and actually staying there.

Hopefully my folding will contribute to the team to get a better overall ranking. :)
I'm not folding on a quad-core or anything, but a E4300 should help a bit.

I am just keeping on going despite the contests. I am just thinking of making a rack with several PS3's going. May do this if they keep dropping in price. I think its a great study and I am more then happy to contribute to this cause. We are the only species to save us from ourselves...lol

Hehe, I just started folding 4 days ago. I haven't turned off the PS3 yet, have 2-3 cores going all the time on my newest build, and 1 on my laptop. If I ever get my 7900GT working on the kids computer, I'll be running 1 more for a total of six.

srpeters18

Sure if you want a high power bill.

Folding is kinda ironic in a way that its for a good cause yet it isn't energy efficient. Save ourselves and screw the planet kinda.

Well, I'm at 15 WU's in 4 days and still going strong. I do get tired of waking up in the morning to discover that my computer locked up in the middle of the night though, when it should've been folding. Grrr. Mouse won't move or anything.

Ill be getting an MP 1800+, another P3, and fixing my G2 with dual 1.4ghz P3s in it. Ima create a folding farm lol. I also told my friend to go around putting it on every machine in the school and hide the taskbar icon. Thikn of how many 3ghz P4s with HT that is :D

You're a genius, my school's computers all run on 2.8 Pentium Ds, think of how much folding would get done with 50 (two rooms) of them running two consoles, not to mention how much would get done if the computers in all 5 rooms were folding.

werty316
01-12-2008, 04:01 AM
Anyone who wants to make their school a huge folding farm should give one of these Folding@Home Diskless Programs (http://reilly.homeip.net/folding/) a try.

Yea im trying to get all my friends to fold for me but its not working well. All well. But i know by at least next weekend ill have the whole school almost folding for me. Wicked sick hehe.

That wouldn't be needed if you ran them as a service. How hard is it to do? My friend is lazy and i really hope he will do all of the machines he can.

werty316
01-13-2008, 12:13 AM
Yep, the console will be hidden and the only way you know whether or not its running is in the task manager and it'll startup everytime the computer reboots so it'll fold forever or until the HD is wipe.

Yeah you really have to love the PS3. I did not even think about folding when I got it for my ol lady. She updated it when we hooked it up to the internet and she was flipping through all the features and she came upon the folding part. So she put in my username and our team number and away it went. I like looking at the screen folding screen with the protein doing its thing. The PS3 has an amazing 8 core unit that can really fly. I believe one is turned off and just 7 of them run. I would like to figure out how to hook these bad boy's together and have them operate as a single unit. There must be a way. I read about a guy awhile back who used a bunch of PS2's and had them operate like a super computer. Imagine a PS3 supper computer? Damn thing would fly. As I see it it would be much cheaper then to have a bunch of Intel computers hooked together with $1500 CPU's.

Well, so far I haven't been able to match your 24 hour average. Mine seems to hold fairly steady at about 2300-ish. I would set up the other two computers, but its really not worth it. Old PD and an even older Athlon. Besides, I'm moving in a month and don't have anywhere to set them up right now. But soon my friend, soon...

That's from the Stanford site I'm guessing. Cause EOC doesn't count the "default" team or the "PS3" team.
