That is a lot of system for that PSU.
It could be a system incompatibility too, you have a one of a kind system.
Also know, this card getting unpowered could of made it fail.

i read that 500w was good for the PSU so i didn't think anything of it since i have a 550. So you think it might be the PSU and a 650 0r 750 should do the job?
i checked my motherboard manual and it say agp 4x/8x
my ticket#133143
I've been holding off on a new upgrade because my computer was fast but not the video card, and i was going to do it this month but my buddy talked me into just getting a 7900 or a 7950 and wait for the summer or early next year.

Instead of both Digital and Analog connected at the same time, try just one at a time. Have the motherboard BIOS and Chipset drivers been updated? Any chance of you being able to test the video card in another system?

It is more then just AGP 8x, some mobos just don't like the 7900/50 AGP cards.
I would say 650 would be fine.

I did that before, I connected the digital first, then analog and last both.
I dont have another system that would be able to handle a 7900 and it would cost $38 for the compter store in my area to test it for me.
1 think i did see was that after i unpluged the monitor from the video card i got a check signal connection display error on the monitor.

$38? You need to find a new store.

I am running the latest bios for my motherboard, as for the chipset there is nothing new only what xp installs.

What GPU did you have in your PC before the 7900?

yeah, there is another small computer store in my area and i'm going to take the card in and see if he will do it for like $10. I also bought a new PSU corsair 750w not sure if it will work with my motherboard.

If you got it from that store, they should test it for free.

No I wont be needing a ticket for a RMA, turns out that the 500w and 550w PSU was the problem. I just finished puting my computer back together and i bought the corsair 750w PSU and it started displaying the bios and booted to winxp. problem is i broke one of my CPU fan and had to shut it down. Will have to wait til the morning to see if i can find a replacement fan or i might have to buy a new cpu cooler.
thx 4 all the help!

hello, I dont know if the card is bad but i'm not getting to work correctly. When i'm trying to play a game nhl 2006, the computer would freeze, not right away but it would freeze sometimes when the game startes and other tiime after 5 mins of playing. looking on how hot the card is runnning (51 c or 124f) is that too hot for that card?
or is there another reason why it freezes when playing games but not when i'm surfn the net or watching videos. it did freeze one time when tring to watch live tv.
still need more help to get this card working, was thinking of doing a fresh install or winxp 32 and if thaqt doesn't work try winxp 64. not sure what else to do.

51c is fine. XP 64 sucks, do not get it. It is either a bad card, or your PC just doesn't like it.
