I had an XFX 7900GT card that developed vram errors over time. It was recently replaced under warranty here in Australia. The replacement was an 8600GTS as seems to happen for people in my situation.

I also bought an 8400GS to see me through while the RMA replacement process was completed. The 8400GS works fine but obviously needs game settings toned down. The 8600GTS works fine in Vista for all purposes outside the game but crashes once I play WoW. It takes a few minutes but the display suddenly dies, the monitor complains it lost the signal, yet the computer is still apparently on. The display does not return ie the card does not reboot itself.

I have a 500w PSU and no idea how to resolve this. Please advise.

How many amps does your PSU have on the 12V rail?

What monitor do you have? Vista has a problem recognizing some monitors.

Is this a DVI or VGA monitor (along with the details about the make and model)? If it has both inputs try using the VGA via the adapter. Also specs on the PSU will help as well.

Post your whole system specs, and test the card in another system to confirm if it has died or not.
