Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel Pentium D or AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
RAM: 2GB
Video Card: 256MB DirectX 10.0-compliant video card or DirectX 9.0-compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 compliant sound card
HDD Space: 12GB
OS: Windows XP or Vista
DirectX Version: DirectX 10.0 libraries (included on disc)

What gets me is, DX10 libraries included on disc? That means, DX10 could have been made for XP.

Of course it could have. Microsoft's just stingy and wants people to get Vista.

Wow....Good thing I am upgrading if they are going to keep pumping out games that need mini super computers. The lighting looks interesting on this game however.

It is odd they would include the DX10 binaries when Vista is is already DX10 right out of the box....

Exactly why i said what i said.

It says right in your quote that it needs DX10 for video, PP. I don't think there are even DX10 specific sound cards even being cooked up yet. Shows how behind that piece of hardware is anymore, since Creative is a bunch of hacks pushing their 'Audigy X-Treme mindblowerbumreamer' **** when its no step up from the late 90's Live! cards.

I had to update my DirectX for a japanese DX9 game even though I'm running Vista and DX10. Theres always new libraries being added, even in DX9, you just usually get them installed invisibly within the game installation anymore instead of being a seperate DX install afterwards.

Hmm... 256meg video, 3.0 shader, X2 3800+? I built a system that meets these for $530 guys, including Vista Basic. Stop being a bunch of economically-inclined-old-world-disciples-of-no-particular-disinclination-of-mine.

Must definitely be the all-languages version though, to require 12gig, which is why they had troubles fitting it on the 360 disc. <3 Blu-Ray.

It will run like crap on anything anyway because its console optimized.

Really, can't anyone read?!

Ah, I still didn't even catch that. Excuse me for skimming and assuming this was the usual 'Its DX10 and I don't wanna upgrade WAAAAAAAAAAAHHH'.

Silly me. Though actually it was, incorrectly.

I think it was more of an "Oh look, PP posted something so let me attack him" kind of thing. You've been doing that a lot lately and it's getting old.

Ghidora, no one but me and PP read the "DX9" part. It was not just a attack at PP.

Vista doesn't come with full DX10. The libraries could be specific for the game too.

Just because the game comes with DX10 libraries doesn't mean that DX10 could be on XP.

I do, however, believe that it could with a good kernel patch.

They could DX10 XP if they wanted, but the more Vista exclusive features they run the more people will go Vista. As it is I run both Dual Boot on separate hard drives. Will probably have to until I get tired of the games that wont run under Vista.

Anyone else think maybe Vista was the reason Gates decided to step down from day to day operation at Microsoft? I know as time goes on it'll get better but they should have done more testing before releasing it.

Those requirements are stiff, on another forum it said Dual Layer Dvd drive was required also. I think they'll figure out ever increasing requirements in quantum leaps rather than gradual increases is going to hurt their income because people are afraid to buy it. Hurt their income they'll come back to games mid to high range machines can run.

DirectX is nothing BUT libraries. If they could split it off, then you got your different version. And the DL drive is probably becasue the game comes on a DVD9.

This are exactly the same things that were said when the big change was made from Windows 2000 to XP and also when 2000 replaced Windows 98. Change is hard, especially when its not for the better, but like it or not we will all inevitably end up on some form of Windows that's not XP.

I agree XP is a faster, leaner, and meaner OS than VISTA. The fact is when MS drops support for XP (which should be within a year or so) you'll be seeing games that all are slanted towards Vista or whatever is out at that time. We can complain from now on and unless every computer user on the planet (or the vast majority of them) stands their ground we'll be powerless to do anything about it.

I know literally thousands of users that swore they'd never change their OS when the other changes were made and out of that number about 3 were true to what they said. Another dozen or so made the move to Linux and quit gaming. The rest changed and so will we if we want to keep the latest and greatest games on our puters.

BTW, I totally agree that XP is overall a better OS, but I have to review in Vista so I might as well use it daily...He says this as he's typing on an XP machine:ahhhhh:

XP will be dropped when Vienna is released in 09/10. Other than that nobody has really a thing to worry about and can keep XP if they want. I dont like it, but im still using Vista X64. I think its cause im to lazy to format.

I thought it is interesting the PC version "will feature four brand-new exclusive types of investigations". Looking forward to Ubisoft elaborating on that statement.

wheww, I am right on the borderline

Intel Pentium D <-- Got it
2GB Ram <-- Got it
DX9/SM3.0 VC <-- Got it
Windows XP <-- Got it

I just hope it runs on low settings, crysis actually runs well on my system at 800*600 all low and it still looks really good.
