98 is almost impossibles to find. Also know, the drivers in it are old, so it would not run on a new PC. Just use XP and put everything on "Classic Mode".

I made sure its 98 compatible its not new parts. uses a p3. I could do that but its a little underpowered for XP.

I have a PC with XP Home that is a 900mhz AMD with 256 of RAM and a 5200 that works just fine.

Yea i know ive done it with a lot fewer but just doesnt seem to work very well with me. guess its just because i havent used a single core in a long time.

A 900MHz CPU is slow compared to a 3.7GHz CPU with XP. But 98-XP is not like XP-Vista, it won't kill your PC.

Try ebay.

And Vista isn't all that bad and you don't need a fast computer with 4GB of RAM, you just need to know how to reduce certain features that are one by default like the Aero theme.

Seems to be $65 on Ebay, be somewhat wherry to buy an OS on Ebay. It is easy to get a bootleg disk. With 98 you still didn't have to register it to get it to work I think. All I know is I have a copied win95 disk and code that still installs.

Someone here might have one laying around.

>_< I have a bootleg Win95 upgrade, I guess I used my Windows1/MS-DOS v3.3 floppy to upgrade.

MS doesn't support Win 98 anymore, so no windows updates.

At the same time, no one is trying to hack 98 any more so you don't need the updates.

just so you know, (and if you are concerned about space limitations) you can use nlite to make a copy of xp, but tailored to your needs. I used it to trim down my install of xp to a little less than 4 gig. You can take out the apps. and services you dont need, ans slipstream service packs and updates. And after, burn a copy of your XP "diet".
