Yeah i've written a pm To Scott.Let's wait.I've requested him to send me via the more cheaper USPS or the US Postal Service system.Last month i got a 2GB pen drive shipped from USA too using USPS which will only costed $4 to the shipper.So, if Scott can (I know he can) send my prize via USPS,i'll accept it because it'll cost me less than those famous courier companies like Fed-Ex or UPS & it'll also cost less for Scott if he can send it via USPS ( in a registered or Insured package).I believe, USPS charges are more than half of that $100 which Scott was willing to spend.I also don't like that, for me Scott will have to pay too much on shipping 7 he will no longer organize any international contests.So, my request to him is, please send it vis any registered or insured form of USPS.If you can't lower the value on USPS,then it's ok.Please send it as is.I'll accept as it also will cost me less if you'll send it via USPS.

I've just ordered a XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro soundcard yesterday from an USA based e-Tailer & they also will be shipping it to me using USPS costing only $28.So, Scott please don't stop international contests (i'm not saying for me only,there are lots of global members here too as you know).If you have to ship outside USA & Canada,please use USPS for that.USPS offers service to all over the world.I've received some products earlier via USPS & they charge a very nominal on shipping compared to those UPS/DHL or FEd-Ex guyz.

Raiders , I can understand what you say but you donno that i'll need to pay 42% tax on the retail price of the product.I donno what is the model & value of the card,i'll be getting but let's think as $250.Now you do the math.42% of $250 is what ? $105 right ? Yeah i can understand that.I've also received few prizes from Asus & MSI through Fed-ex International Priority & Economy.They are fast,real time trackable & secured enough to deliver door to door.But, I can understand not all people can afford that money on shipping.In those cases, USPS is the best alternative which also provide tracking,insurance of goods & provides a dirt cheap rates than those international courier companies.They will take more time than the Fedex or DHL or UPS but they'll deliver.But you should register or insure the parcel to make sure nothing in the box gets lost during the delivery process.You know Slug, it happend to me once.i got a non-registered/non-insured package & one of the item( a 120mm fan) from the box were missing.Anyways, i hope Scott will not have to pay much on USPS shipping. :) I can assume it'll cost him $40-$50 at the maximum with insurance covered.

No offence sush but you knew what you got yourself into when you entered this contest so you should give Scott a yes or no answer about accepting the prize so he doesn't waste $100 out of his pocket shipping the prize to you after you would deny paying for any duty/taxes when the package arrives at your door because the amount was too high for your liking.

The difference between the cheapest shipping service and express shipping is more than just a quicker delivery time.

Example: I had to RMA my board to EVGA three freakin' times and out of those three times where EVGA send me a replacement two of them were sent regular international ground and I was charged a brokerage fee and I had to pay duty both times. In the 3rd RMA I requested that the board be shipped express and bingo, not brokerage fees or duties were needed to be paid.

Go to your local shipping office and ask them.

You may also want to check out the 'Gift' option as well. I know some countries will not charge duty if the package is listed as a gift. I know this from experience . I try to get them all shipped as gifts and I pay nothing at all. No tax or duty fee.

That's because they don't charge anything below $20..lol. But the thing is insurance is important if you are sending a high priced item. Sending it as a gift gets you through free and clear. I would rather have insurance on a shipment then nothing and marked down for $20 or less in value. You will end being screwed more times then not.

In all the prizes or gifts i've received so far contained a maximum value of $30.Like i've shown in the forum earlier when i got my MSI 975x mobo or the Asus Commando.In both cases, Asus & MSI marked the value as $30 which is the magic number for me because there's no tax on that value.And 42% tax on everything which is more than $30.



@ Sadasius :- In my country, it doen't matter if you write it as Gift or sample.Only the written value matters.Actually in my country, there's no written rule that you'll have to pay tax on gifts but the customs officials use to take tax unofficialy on them & you can't do a damn thing about it.If you try to protest, you'll have to forfeit from your product.:frown:

780i is the best Mobo in the idea that it does Tri-SLI, but if you don't need SLI it isn't necessarily the best.

I don't see it that way. I currently live in Israel, but even so, I still have some friends and family in the states that can get it for me and then...they can ship it to me to Israel and I'll pay them for the shipment. ;-)

Even if I have to pay a little bit more, it is still much cheaper than just buying it myself...that's why I'm definitely in! :grin:

I've my uncle residing in Arizona but he's a lecturer in Statistics in Indiana University.But i can't request him to pickup anything for me & then send it to me as he's always busy & travels all over the world most of the time.I also respect him a lot & he's much senior than me.He'll also not take the shipping fee from me which he might need to pay from his pocket & i can't force him to pay for the shipping of my package from his own pocket.You are lucky enough that despite not being an US resident, you can still take the opportunities provided to the US residents. :)

I am building a system now. Have case, power, and 3 Coolit Freezone's (will retro fit 2 to GPU's).

This is where I am stuck:

3 SLI is having some issues that are not resolved yet. And Quad SLI is coming back with the new 9200 X2 GPU, and given the last 4 way SLI clusterf#$k, I am a little weary of SLI. But they have been the leaders for so long in GPU power. Cost is high.

Crossfire also has issues with drivers, and other rendering problems. But provides good GPU power, at a medium cost.

Mobo's, drives, ramm, etc. I have a very good grip on, its just this Primary issue of SLI and Crossfire, I must resolve before moving forward.

At the moment I have given up on SLI. To many issues and not worth the cost to me. I would rather just get a highend card and run it without game crashes do to SLI or CrossFire.

Hence the reason I did not mind moving away from my 680I to my X38 system.

After weeks of research, back story's on both systems, near future developments, current R&D budgets, Intel and AMD cross relationships with Ninvida and ATi., I am a little closer to making a decision. Depends on the 9600 X2 due out in a few days. If it works in Quad SLI and the 790i is a good release, I will likely go that direction.

0Well I figured I should post my case on my comp issues. So I built my comp in 06 and spent every dime I could to make it play my games I compete in. Last year in Feb my radeon x1650 pro card crapped out on me in less than 6 months and so I went to future shop and bought one to last me till I moved to the states to be with my man. I returned it 1 day b4 the return would be void so I could ge tmy cash back. So I get to the USA and I have to share my mans comp for months which caused us to have endless arguments on who got to use it etc. I eneded up putting all my games on hold for the most part and if we needed to have a match he always played not me and as for my broadcasting thing I do I coudnt do when he was which sucked. My grandma felt so bad she paid to ship it to me. In the process ups broke my keyboard and wouldnt replace it cause she had put the wrong kind of insurance on it. So now I have my comp and no video card or keyboard so we got given to us this crappy like 800 card which btw wont even let me play bf2 I can play ut2k4 lol and little arcade games :( My dog chewed the cord on my monitor and there it went so now I am using this big bulky ugly crap and well it works but eew. So now ut3 has come out and cod4 and I cant play any of them let alone cast or compete no more :( My man won a gaming pc at xmas time and it upset me alot cause we both did the work for it..it was like a 40qn scavenger hunt which took forever but we both did it and well cause after we submitted our qns they were like only 1 per house which was not posted btw and cause he submitted seconds b4 me they gave it to him cause he had the most qns right 37/40. Sigh and then they gave me like a feel sorry for you gift and then cause my man mentioned it to the wrong person now they arent sending it to me and I think its bs cause they said I won it :s I have spent all my cash on immigrating here legally and its costed alot thousands and my computer suffers for it. I still have AGP omg. Then any extra cash I end up getting for bdays xmas w/e gets spent on bills or my child which I really cant complain but I need a break too. So yea thats my sob story, hmm feels better already getitng it out.

I now need to do more papers cause they sent me my resident card and I didnt get it so they are making me fill out more crap just to get it re-sent to me which will take at least 4 weeks then I was told I needed to talk to the irs and get a SSN so I called and she told me to fill out a w-7 then I call a few days later and find out not to fill out a w-7 that it would mess things up and that its only if I wasnt eligible for a SSN which she said I should be. So I get directed to Social Security who tell me in order to get my SSN I need to have my resident card then file oh and btw this whole tiem i been married since may I have been using my married last name cause immigration told me I didnt need to do anything, come to find out when I file for me SSN I have to fill out forms to change it. So I need to wait 4 weeks for my i90 once I send it then another 4 weeks for SS to get my paperwork for my SSN then another 12 weeks to be approved for it. I CANT WORK TILL THEN!!!!!!So then comes the qn of filing taxes which we were hopefully gonna use some to upgrade my old pc as much as we could. If he files without claiming 2 of us a dependants which he can when i get my ssn we have to refile and wait to be compinsated or he can wait till like july till I get it and then file but need to file and extension on the taxes....so frustrating right?

Of course I know the 780i is newer but I wonder overclock wise if it would beat my 680i.
I could of course buy a cheap videocard for my girlfried and take her 8800GTS (or mine...) and use triple SLI on that 780i board if I ever won it and try to OC it as much as my striker extreme.

No, unfortunately the only nVidia cards that support Tri-SLI are the 8800GTX and Ultras...but you could always run normal SLI for some dual-GPU goodness. :-D

Not sure the procy can actually go higher then that though.

First you download a client here (http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download). You have to decide which one do you want, smp client is meant for quad processors, you can also use an gpu client if you have an ATI card. You also have to decide between graphical client or just a simple console, they function the same they just look different.
You have to set the team number to 41608 (=> Bjorn3d) and use the same username as you use in these forums.
