169.32 Drivers ??? 8800GT ???

Logged into my XFX account today and was directed to download new drivers for my 512Mb 8800GT Alpha Dog. Forceware 169.32

However.. all other mentions of this release I can find (inc nVidia's site) says that 169.32 is for 8800GS only.


What gives ??

Should I install them or not??

I would wait for XFX Support on here to clear it up. It is confusing to me too.

I have a GT and am currently running 169.32. No issues.

My guess is you need .32 for the GS. Nvidia and XFX sites confuse me.

Those are WHQL drivers that are to support the 8800GS. They can also be used to support every other Geforce video card using a modified INF file which you can get here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showforum=72

I didn't have to do any of that. Mine is evga, but I doubt that makes a difference. When I go to their download page, they just have you select whether you have 6,7, or 8 series and the drivers are the same for the entire series. I installed 4 days ago and haven't had any problems at all.

EVGA modded the INF file to include every Geforce video card as the WinXP, Vista 32-bit, and Vista 64-bit setup files from nVidia's website only have the 8800GS listed in the INF files...

Aah, I get it. Wouldn't that one work, since they're all reference cards?

As long as the INF includes the entry to the video card a user wants to use along with the drivers, then yes you can use it.

I downloaded the drivers from the xfx site for my 8800gt.
In the notes it says " New version supporting G92 8800 Models".
