My graphics card setup might be a problem to the one i stated in another thread, which was that my monitor gets no signal on boot and doesn't go into POST.
I have made sure the card is firmly put in place in its slot, plugged in the 6 pin power cable and made sure that it is the only piece of hardware using that cable. The card came with a 6 pin power cable of its own and i wasn't too sure whether to use that or not, but i was told not to so i didn't.
The one thing i am uncertain upon is the power supply, 500W. I'm not sure if this is enough to run the 8800GT so clarification would be great on that and also my setup of the G card regarding the power cable.
Thanks for your time ppl

What are the rest of tour specs?
Depending on what other parts you are running, the maker/quality of your power supply and the amount of amps that power supply has you might or might not be able to run your computer using that power supply.

Mmmmm, a total of 34amps on the 12V isn't much...
Did you computer do this right from the start when you first put it together and turned it on?
Do you hear and beeps when you turn your computer on?
Try turning on your computer with only one memory stick installed.

Yea first time i turned it on it sounded like it ran perfectly, fans lights an everything but monitor stayed blank.
No beeps come from my comp as the mobo has no speaker.
And yea im about to try one stick of RAM, once i put the mobo battery back in.
So 500W probably isnt best PSU for my system?

Well, I suggest something with more power along with more amps on the 12V rail.

I am having this same problem as well. I just built a new rig and my monitor light just flashes on and off like it isnt getting a signal. I have tried 3 different monitors and two other VGA cables with the DVI adapter.
my specs are
2 xfx 8800 GT's (only one installed until i figure out this problem, I have tried both independently without results)
asus p5n32-e sli ready motherboard
intel q6600
OCZ GameXStream 700W SLI-Ready Power Supply
4 gb OCZ sli pc2-6400 ddr2
western digital sata HD.
as I have just built this system i have an unformatted harddrive so i cant install the drivers, and my last video card was AGP. so Im at a loss as to what to do next.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too, have no digital (DVI) signal. Using a DVI to VGA adapter, analog signal is good.
I have six XFX GeForce 8800GT video cards. I have tried several of them. I tried several different monitors and cables. The exact same monitors and cables and motherboards work with a dual DVI video card from a different manufacturer.
The only things powered up are the motherboard and the video card. No disk drives of any kind are connected. There is a simple, generic QUERTY keyboard attached, no mouse and no other peripherals. At this point, I just want to see POST messages on my monitor when it is connected to DVI.
Thinking there may not be enough power, I changed the power supply to a Coolmax CXI-600B which seems to have lots of amps and watts; again, no other devices are powered-on (just the video card and the mobo).
The problem is apparently NOT a specific, single XFX GeForce 8800GT video card. The problem seems to be compatibility with Intel D945GPM motherboards. I flashed the BIOS of the motherboards. This mobo is getting older, but the PCI Express configuration appears to be the same as the newer Intel DG33BU. Temporarily, I had the same problem with only one of six Intel DG33BU mobos; the problem oddly corrected itself on that one system.
Configuration:
Coolmax CXI-600B power supply
Intel D945GPM motherboard
XFX GeForce 8800GT Alpha Dog Edition video card
Keyboard
