I was just wondering if everyone on the forum overclocks their cpu/gpu.

Most everybody OCs there CPU, I would OC my GPU if I didn't have a card that likes to blow.

Just look at my sig. I was able to get my e2180 to 3.7ghz but 3.5 is much cooler and stable. For some reason i have badluck with gfx cards even with good cooling and no voltage change so i only OC with XFX. My last xfx card was a 7600gt. was going to get an 8800gt of course xfx but i might be able to get a 3850 for $135.

Wheres the fun in that if I didn't overclock? BTW my answer would be a yes.

Then according to your religion your going to hell because your sig says otherwise.

Why, yes I do...currently running my E6400 @ 3Ghz...I was running it at 3.2Ghz until I upgraded to 4Gb RAM, my 965 board has issues running 4Gb RAM at 800Mhz...stupid board...
I can run my gfx card overclocked to 700/1750/2000 (GPU/Shader/RAM) but I didn't notice that much of an increase in performance, so it's at stock atm.

Yea i do. I had my old 3000+ @ 2.6ghz stable. My 5600+ isnt oced due to poor cooler and mobo. My 7950GT is oced like a motha.

So thats why you wanted to get the vindicator.
Now i have an erge to oc my gfx. Should i go for number 3. The last 2 cards i OCed died on me may have just been bad luck.

Usually I overclock my Pentium D 805 2.66GHz up to 3.25GHz if I am encoding videos or something.
Also I was thinking of overclocking my video card but not sure if it is worth it or if it can take the extra heat. It idles at 50C and goes up to about 69C.
the card is a 6800xt 350/1000 but I have seen them overclock like mad on some review sites.

So thats why you wanted to get the vindicator.Bingo, decided to just wait it out and get a 9700 for like 20 more.

BTW that PD805 can easily be taken to 3.6 - 3.8 on a good cooler.
I took it to 4.1Ghz stable.
Right now I use a e4300 1.8 at 3.7.
Well not 3.7 anymore.
My mobo is busted but it was nice while it lasted :)
I dont have much time for my PC nor the money anymore so I kinda cooled off for a while.
I'll get back into it soon enough though but I have a few things to get worked on.
Anyways yah I do OC pretty hardcore :) !!
(I have to mention I use phase change cooling though...)

Yep...OF COUSE I DO. You can also see from my sig that I'm running both my CPU and GPU are running overclocked 24/7.
My E6600 CPU @ 3.2GHz (8x400) and my 8800GTX @ 600/2000...;-)

Yep QX9650 is OC from 3GHz to 3.66GHz. And that was easy just by upping the multiplier. When I get time going to start tweaking it more.

The 805 can get up to 3.6GHz but my motherboard cant.
I am useing a cheap ECS Nforce 570 SLIT-A motherboard which is based on a Nforce 4 chipset. Very crappy.

Always - my reasoning is that I want to buy a cheap part and have it run like a more expensive part - to me that is the whole point of overclocking. So if I can get a cpu for $150-$200 and then overclock it to the level of a $900-$1000 cpu, in my mind I am getting great value for my money. Same for the gpu and memory (even though I blew my last one just dont know if it was due to overclocking cause the 7900 gt has always had problems from the get go anyways - XFX replaced it with a 7950 gt).
Its a value minded exercise imo.

Yep I OC, I'm a middle of the road medium OC type person, longevity is why. I clock my cpu from 3.2 to 3.52, Swiftech Water cooled w/triple 120mm Radiator. I Oc the 8800gt from 600/900 to 650/950 idle at 49C because I chose the one with the larger fan. Moving to a water block on the GPU so I can go higher if I want.

as it states in my sig, yes, i crank 1.8 up to 2.25ghz. with a Zalman fan cpu cooler

Yes, I do OC and only increased the FSB.
Just bought a Asus P5N-D 750i, which I already have and I'm waiting for UPS to deliver my Q6600 today. Tomorrow looks like a build day.

I'm at 3.2 on a Q6600. Once my water setup gets here, I'm hoping to get to 3.6. According to the EVGA forums, a lot of people have gotten 500FSB stable on the 780i.

500 on a Nvidia chipset??? I would have to see it to believe it and I am sure it is not stable without the chip wanting to burn away. You would have to water cool the chipset as well to make it stable I think. Besides you don't need to hit 500 to get your 3.6ghz mark with the Q6600. As long as you can hit the 450 mark your in the clear.

Nvidea chip set, I'd say water the cpu and north bridge, heat sink and heavy fan the mosfets, keep a fire extinguisher handy and pray.

Actually, I can hit 400 to get 3.6 with a x9 multiplier, I'm already at a 1600 FSB and it's been running rock solid for about a week now, including 24 hours of prime95. I'm at a x8 multiplier right now and when I get the water setup I'll just up the multiplier. But yes, I have seen a few people say they are running stable with a 500FSB. Reference this thread:
http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.asp?m=240763&mpage=1&key=
And you can bet I'll try it eventually. And like you said, I'd still be happy to get 4.05 (450 x 9), heck, I'd be ecstatic to get that high! So far, its been a great stable board. Only reason I'm not running higher is because I've taken the vCore as high as I dare on air.

Most of the people in those types of threads are liars as they will OC just to say they got it enough to take a desktop snapshot and save it then quickly take it down again. Every review on this board I have read did not even get 475. Most crapped out at 467 and the NorthBridge was running around 80 degrees and the SouthBridge 65+. Nvidia chipsets are not the best overclockers out there and that is very well known. Heck I would not even take mine up to 500 and I have the Asus Maximus Extreme with a water cooled NotheBridge. You just have to take those threads with a grain of salt. Notice how they don't even have a CPUZ snapshot? That's because I am sure windows would not even boot up at that setting. Ask them for a snapshot of a CPUZ at that setting and you will get a lot of excuses or someone really good at photoshop. Just for ****s and giggles run it at 450 and try and touch your NB cooler...lol. You will see what I mean.

I don't know, most people over there seem to be watercooled anyway, they've probably got a chipset block in the loop. Also, 500 is what EVGA said it would max out at. I think with proper cooling and high voltages you could probably get there. I won't try and take it to 500 however before getting a chipset block. When I do, I'll be sure to report on it and tell you how it went.
That is, if d-tek ever sends my stuff out. I ordered it last Friday and it still hasn't been shipped. I'm wondering why I paid for 3-day shipping if its going to sit there for a week. Also, my debit card no longer shows the charge, I e-mailed them two days ago and still haven't heard anything. Grrr.

Yeah I would be very curious to see if water cooling would help the NB on that board. On some boards it does and then on others it does not matter and only gets worse when you try to up the voltages to stabilize it.

I even try to overclock my psu, but not luck yet.....
where would we be without the sacred overclock.....
ah, yes, buying high end parts I can't afford

I used to, but at the moment I don't have the balls to try and overclock this notebook. Will probably wait until I can get another hardware together to build a new computer and overclock that.
Btw, anyone have any luck overclocking their own notebook? Although there are many ways to do it or attempt it I've heard to many horror stories to just test it off a whim.
