I am running 2 XFX 8800gt's. I am running a viewsonic 2235vm on one card and an older Viewsonic VX2235wm on the other. I had 1600x1200 res on both now for some reason I dont have that option on the 22inch. The Highest Option I have now is 1024 by 768. Now the game I am playing looks Horrible anyone have a fix?

Did you switch monitors when the PC was on? Are you running SLI? Are you using Vista?
Just go into this menu and tell it what res you want. Just don't set it higher then your monitor can do.

Have you tried the unsigned driver from the Viewsonic web site? I had problems with with the signed driver a while back and the unsigned driver cured it.

I am running vista. I am not running SLI because I need the 2 monitors.
I already have the drivers on the computer. I uninstalled them and reinstalled them.
I dont have the option to even open a res of 1600x1200 its totally gone. I also dont have the native option for the 22 inch.

If you swap and connect the monitors to the other video card does the problem follow the monitor or the video card? If it follows the monitor and your using DVI it could be an EDID issue with the monitor.

You can add any resolution in that menu I showed.

I dont have that option now at this point my computer doesnt even see the 22inch.
Edit: ok so when I put them on the same card both monitors works, however on the 22 inch I still dont have an option to go higher than 1024 x 768. So of this is an edit issue how do I fix this
?

This could be the EDID problem I mentioned before if you are using DVI. When using DVI the video card will only allow you to use resolutions that the monitor tells the video card is ok. This is done by the EDID in the monitor, it communicates with the video card and tells it to allow say 1680x1050 which should be the native resolution for that monitor.

it should but all I am getting is 1024 x 768 at the highest. Now the issue I am having is that on the Second video card I cant get either to work. On the first I can get 1 to work but not the other. if I choose to only use the 22 inch all I get is 1024x768. Note on the 21 inch I can get the full resolution. At this point I have to assume it is the second video card.
Here is another oddity the second card I bought was different from the first. They were both the same Alpha Dog 8800gt but the frame itself was bigger than the first. It even clips onto the the back of my machine differently. I just ordered a 3rd card they are sending me a refund addressed sticker and the new card.
The guy on the phone said this is the second time he has heard this :(

This is sounds like my problem on my friends multimedia PC at his house. I was able to fix the problem by removing the drivers, but since you did that.
Try:
1. update everything, windows etc...
1.1. Uninstalling the drivers / SLI (use driver cleaner in safe mode)
2. remove your video cards
3. reinstall the video cards
4. reinstall the drivers, the latest ones.
Tell me if that works.

Well I ruled out the video card being bad. I swapped the placement of the Video cards and hooked the older Monitor to it. I am going to apply the second monitor to the New card first and see it I can get dual on that card if I can, then its not the cards.
Guess I better call and cancel the order
Arg. I edited this and noting changed:
Anyway the 22inch doesnt work at all now on ether cards. Now the 20inch works on the new card in the other slot. So it cant be the cards. It has to be either the monitor or the Motherboard slot for the videocard. I checked the computer Device Manager and it says both are ok.

update. ok so I went and scrapped the 22 inch viewsonic, and picked up a Sceptre at office max. Now at first I was like ok this is going to be a POS monitor but it looks better than the 22 viewsonic. The store guy tried the Viewsonic on a few machines and he did get it to work but only on 1 of 5. So the monitor was part of the problem. I have both monitors up so I guess I am happy. Would have sucked if I had to send it in to viewsonic and wait for a month.
