Greetings,
I believe I have a problem that hasn't been mentioned in here before.
I am able to boot to Windows great, and run any app that I can think of. However, I can only run one app. As things are running, the system is auto-adjusting the FSB, Memory, and CPU (and I believe one or two other, but those 3 I'm sure of) speeds. This is concerning, but in and of itself not a real issue.
However, when I exit whatever I run, speeds gradually attempt to return to base speed. However, within 5 seconds of the speed declining, the system hard freezes every time. Took me forever to diagnose this cause things will run fine, but sometimes it'll adjust speed down in the middle of a longer session in a program.
I have attempted to futz with BIOS settings to lock things in, but obviously I haven't succeeded yet. Some help would be appreciated on what settings to go with, as it's been a while since I've had to mess with the BIOS to this level. I'm not currently attempting to overclock, though if someone wants to toss out good overclocking settings, I would certainly not complain (nudge nudge wink wink)
System information:
XFX nForce 680i LT motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 processor
Corsair Twinx 2x1024 PC6400 DDR2
Evga GeFroce 8600 GTS
All drivers fron xfxforce.com are new as of 2 nights ago, and the BIOS update to the latest version FINALLY worked about 22 min. ago (don't ask. It wasn't pretty)
Many thanks in advance for any advice people may have.
