HAHA I just thought of a good future idea of booting screens. Maybe you could port the supermario game to the boot file some how in the future and play it while loading.... It will probably be like run-jump-kill gumba-get mushroom and the computer reboots when you die..

There is so many rules for making one, you can't do anything like that...

So... in the future maybe a new type of os could support? I think its going to be either impossible or confusing but everything has a way.:)

dumdum the boot screen can't be animated.
A while back I used to change the boot screen but I eventually got bored with changing it since the boot screen last for about 20-30 seconds and the amount of times I rebooted my computer is quite low since I leave it on all the time and rarely reboot. I actually prefer disabling the boot screen.
Here are two of my fav XP bootup screens:

If you want a specific looking boot screen you could always make your own: http://www.jakeludington.com/windows_xp/20060219_change_xp_boot_screen.html

Modding the boot screen makes it load slower?

Ah..., no....
How many times a day do you see the boot screen on your computer?

Cool, haven't though about doing this since years...I would like to modify mine. Thanks for bringing up this idea. I believe you can also change the Bios boot screen too.

Why sooo many times? Just leave you PC on if this is the case.

I restart whenever I feel necessary but changing the boot screen will not make it load slower, it just changes the default screen that loads while it boots.
That said, I prefer to see the boot info.

I thought the period was there as a mistake. My bad.

The best boot screen is no boot screen at all ;)

I do wonder how many Apple fanboys will move over to Windows 7 if Microsoft makes the boot screen 32bit color?

Microsoft is not capable of making something as great as a Mac OS, but they have the main stream so no one will move to Mac.
