It never ceases to amaze me how may people don't know what they are doing and build there own systems.

Let me go find my old new egg reviews people made I saved...
---------------------------
Some guy rating a Core 2 Duo on NewEgg; 6 years of PC building and he wants to know if it will run XP?..
Pros: I want this processor, but have wondered if it will run XP Pro? Newegg is not talking.
Cons: After building 6 systems in as many years with Newegg, you would think they would answer this for me.
Other Thoughts: What operating systems are those of you who have this processor running?

"NVIDIA SLI technology allows 2 graphics card to run simultaneously (second card not included)"
-----------------------
Read this review... Speechless, with lots of laughs.
Pros: Nothing really at all.
Cons: Horrible card. Its PCI, which is slow to begin with. 256MB is worthless. Does not run in Vista well at all. Ended up buying a radeon x1300, now THATS a great card
Other Thoughts: dont buy any video cards that are simply PCI. go with PCI express.

HAHAHA, good one's. There is no shortage of stupid. This is why Dell, HP and such make so much money. Without these companies we would be the only one's having computers...;-)

Yeah, OR...we'd be the ones making all the money. Down with Dell! Down with HP! Of course, I don't really have the patience to support stupidity issues.
Another instance of too much money, not enough intelligence. Did he just pick the most expensive memory available?

Right, but you didn't just choose them because they were expensive, or did you? I'm guessing you were smart enough to know the difference between DDR2 and DDR3

I read one review on newegg where a guy bought a pci-e video card and actually cut away a slot in the pins so it would fit in an agp slot. :jawdrop:

Newegg has some stupid reviews. I am glad they now tell you if the reviewer got it or not.

Yeah no kidding. I cannot stand it when people post on there and have absolutely no clue because they don't even have the part or ever bought it.

The ones that get me are were they put their tech level as high but then I go and read the review and they have something stupid in their review like my POS 7300gs is slower then my 6600gt that false advertisement.

Here's one for ya, About two months ago one of my customers pulled a modem out of a mobo while it was running. Sparks shot, nice smoke marks on the dial up modem, electric burn on one of the tabs. He calls me, so I go up and install a modem in a different slot, thing runs for another month and dies (the machine).
He calls me and I go check it out and it won't even send data to a PCI diagnostics card, no post, no nothing, died from PCI bus damage as far as I could tell.
So I take the good parts and build him into a cheap gamer because he has a limited budget. Calls me last week asks me to come up. (he lived 2 house up from me) So I go up ask him what the problem is, won't connect, says no dial tone. I shut it down, unplugged the power supply, unscrew the modem hold down screw and tug on the modem.
The modem isn't going any where, I try to rock it out, tug it out, I check and make sure I got the right screw off, I do. Finally he reaches over my shoulder pulls the modem out (with a grunt from exertion). The connector inside the PCI slot comes out with it and I'm like WTF.
He had turned it off and uninstalled the old modem, turned it on and stuck the new modem in welding it to the pci slot, then called me, then yanked it out of the slot after welding it in by pushing it in while it was turned on.
I ask him why he plugged it in while it was running, he said he wanted to make sure the PC recognized it had a new modem. I'm sure it did recognize the new modem right before it died. His better half put a lock on the back of the new one I built, and indeed she is "The Better Half".

I got lucky, he moved last week. Guy was breaking stuff all the time. Normally I don't charge neighbors for a quick look. That guy I had to discourage so I charged him 20 bucks a visit.
He "fixed" his gas powered radio controlled car with a heavier suspension, and control arms for the wheels. The ones that actually turn the wheels. Unfortunately one control arm was a hair longer than the other, instead of going around a speed bump he hit the end of it. Launched the car into the air, right into the grill of an on coming pickup. At least the pickup had one of those brush poppers on the front and was undamaged, can't say that for the little radio controlled car. Biggest piece we found was a wheel.

One time I fried a hard drive by plugging the power in upside-down.
One time I was bored and got curious so I unplugged my CD drive while windows was running. First I unplugged the power....nothing happened. Windows was running fine. Unplugged the ribbon cable....nothing....I sat there for about a minute wondering why it didn't at least give an error message. I went into my computer and it blue screened.
When I first got the mobo that I have now, I accidentally sat on it and bent it a little. Works like a charm though.:wink:
Don't tell me that you guys haven't made stupid errors or done stupid things.
The only thing that pisses me off is people who claim to know computers but have no real knowledge of them. Arrogant bastards. :smile_evil:

1. Gosh there's a lot more things that p1ss me off than that, xero freelance!
2. Gotta love the xero freelance graphic :)
I am old enough to remember a time when it was like "Oh you've got a PC, you must know all about them".
Personally I take the view that it's better to ask a stupid question than to do a stupid thing.

Ive done some stupid things but not entirely stupid. I think the worst ive done is just zapped the crap out of a ram stick cause i had slippers on carpet in the winter. I think it hurt me more than the ram though cause its still working. (Yes it was recently lol shut it!!)

Two days ago I opened one of my computers to add a nice big HD I wanted to use as a data depot since that server is always up. Before I got the machine opened, I thought to myself 'Hey, I should start by cleaning it up a bit while I'm here'. It's one of those big Antec cases with a removable dust filter that slides up into the front bezel and clicks, so I pull the machine up and cant it at an angle...
and I hear 'shrieeek crash!' from inside the case... Someone (NOT ME!) had forgotten to lock the HD trays, 3 HDs fell on the RAID card! Only one of the HDs failed and I didn't lose any data, but there's no redundancy anymore :O
I would have been in real trouble if I'd lost that data. In the end I didn't put the big new HD in there because I couldn't get the machine to keep booting from the RAID array. Oh well!
