How do I do it? I have tried two times, f8 many times. Do I need a PS/2 keyboard?

try F10... if this doesn't bring anything up then try using a usb to ps/2 dongle

When do I hit it? The random fast taps since I turn on the PC doesn't do anything.

If it doesn't take you to bios just hold it down on reboot you should be pressing just after post and before the OS loads.

You don't know how to get into safe mode?
How do I get into safe mode?
How do you get into Safe Mode? Very easily. When booting your system, as soon as the first (POST) screen appears showing your memory and hardware information, start pressing 'F8.'

Yaa, I should've known better. I needed to use a PS/2 keyboard just like everything I ever do before windows loads.

I use a USB keyboard and don't have any problems.

I have had 3 USB keyboards. They never work in till windows loads. BIOS works sometimes with USB. I do have USB2, so I don't know what it is.

Enabling USB legacy support fixes it on some boards, on others it's USB dos support, some boards there's no fix for it. ps/2 keyboard (like you used) avoids the headache of messing with it.
I'm lucky I guess I use a wireless usb and it works to get into bios/safe mode and all, but only after i enabled the legacy support.

Try enabling the USB Keyboard & Mouse supprt in Bios & also enable USB Legacy support.Sometimes, if you don't enable the Legacy support, the USB keyboard doesn't work while post & only works after the keyboard checking happens while XP starts to load. After enabling these two options in Bios ( if they aren't enabled already) the rest is easy.Keep pressing the F8 while computer starts & i think it should let you in the Safe mode.Keep us updated. :)
