So, since about a month and a half ago I went completely to the "dark side"; I took the plunge to the so called "next gen". First I got a 360 in late December and I was supposed to stick with that, but then I spotted an unbelievable deal with a PS3 - well, I just couldn't say no :)

Anyway, they're still both offline - I've never been much of an online gamer.
I currently have a crappy 512K Internet connection and use a Speedtouch USB modem - similar to this:

Can anyone tell me the best way to connect both systems to the Internet? The best and cheapest router, etc.? Or point me to a site containing this info?

Thanks in advance.

According to the manufacturer's website, you can only use 1 computer with that modem, which is what I suspected when you said USB. http://www.thomson-broadband.co.uk/codepages/content3.asp?c=7&ProductID=471
Check out the FAQ's on that page, it will explain it. You need to get either an ethernet capable modem, or a router from your provider.

Get a router and hook up your consoles to them. Depending on what model PS3 you have, you can set up the wireless feature it has, as I have done. I have a cheap Dynex router, and it works fine.

Not if you look at his modem. It won't connect to the router because its a USB modem. No network cable, it goes straight to the computer via USB. He needs a modem with an ethernet connection to hook it up to a router.

You could try putting another NIC in your comp and bridging the connections.

I would say it is best to plug a cable into the back of it, or turn on WIFI.

I would get a $50 Motorola modem and a router and set up a little network.

My buddy has a Linksis WRT-150, it works pretty well.
