Hi,
Seeing as Gigabyte has released a beta BIOS with non-official support for the new 45nm CPUs, is there anyone here that has actually got a 965 board running the new E8xxx series CPU?
I am interested in upgrading my E6400 as the E8400 can easily outperform it.
Thanks

This is the first time i hear that it might be theoretically possible to put these cpus on 965 chipset. I hope you're right and a bios upgrade is all it takes but i'm a bit skeptical about it. If it turns out to be a real deal i'm gonna swap my cpu in the next couple of months.
I will have to invest some time in this, unless somebody here knows more.

Well according to this link the DS3 v3.3 supports it with BIOS F13o.
1. beta bios
2. Enable 45nm CPU with non official support, due to Intel having no official guarantee for 45nm CPUs on non-3 series chipsets
And according to this link http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2455 the DS3P v3.3 supports it with BIOS F6g.
1. beta bios
2. Enable 45nm CPU with non official support, due to Intel having no official guarantee for 45nm CPUs on non-3 series chipsets
