I know that many of you really like to got down and dirty when it comes to overclocking your system and making those critical personal adjustments, which up until now has been a bit difficult to say the least. What I wanted to do today was take a bit of your time and go over a new program from NVIDIA called System Tools. This program looks to take Ntune to the next level and may become an all in one overclocking/monitoing tool. It can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_system_tools_6.00.html

But what does it do, how will it benefit us? Lets take a look.

From the NVIDIA control panel you will be able to make adjustments that usually need to be made in the BIOS screen.

Here you can adjust the FSB, CPU Fan speed even voltages.

The Motherboard tab allows many adjustments from voltages, fan speeds even PCIe clocks.

RAM Timings and voltage can now easily be adjusted on the fly.

Of course NVIDIA wouldn't leave out GPU adjustments

Rules, Rules, Rules
Each area allows you to even further customize your hardware with Rules. For example with video cards you can adjust the fan speed depending on the temp of the GPU:

As long as your fan is adjustable you can modify the speeds to your desire.

BIOS Updates made even easier!

You can now save and update your motherboard BIOS from the NVIDIA control panel

BIOS Adjustments
Many of your BIOS changes can be made in System Tools as well

Monitoring and Logging
You will also be able to monitor your system a bit easier even create logs:

Keep in mind this is just rolling out so I am sure there will be changes and upgrades, but I must admit I am impressed with the initial program.

How well does this function on non-NVIDIA based motherboards? Hope it's better than NTUNE.:icon_tiphat:

XFX Support, do you know if this talks to BIOS or just OCs in windows?

Because my Mobo has a Windows based OCer and I hate it, it doesn't save it in BIOS, then any time you save your BIOS it clears your windows OC...

I was really disappointed in the new System Monitor. The old nTune monitor would just run. This one uses a full screen and gobs of resources. And you can't tab over and do anything else. It bogs down so much that I can't even have anything running and then start the monitor because it lags so much from screen to screen. In addition, the temps are wrong more often than they are right.

I still need to mess with it a bit, but it appears to communicate with the BIOS directly. And for those of you wondering does this save when you reboot, well it does a who lot more then that. You can overclock the system to a desired setting and save that profile, thus letting you have multiple overclocked profiles. But it gets better, you can set up profile rules (the set up reminds me of setting rules in Outlook) where you can determine when and if that specific profile loads. For example you can have a specific overclock profile take effect when you load a specific game or simply when you load windows.

**Keep in mind this is a new program not long out of the Beta stages so it may have its kinks, but in the long run I am pretty excited about it.

Well if brother Ryan gets Miles and I 790I boards then we will review them and play with the software :)

I gave the bet a try back in early jan. and didn't really like all that much. The monitoring and logging display annoyed me. Anyhow I prefer BIOS overclocking since I'm so used to it and all.

However I just might give this final version a go.

isn't this is just the new ntune which nvidia is coming out that supports their ESA? I installed the software and it will work with the 680i based mobo as well (though I am not too sure what options are missing compare to the 780i based mobo).

It seems like a better tool than old ntune and more option as well.

i try it and unninstaled it becose mess with cpu volts just like ntune but i have 680i sli maybe on 780i that dont happens

I cannot change the voltage on my board through this program.

Says on the nvidia page that its 680/780i only.

I have found one annoying thing about the System Monitor with my E8400 & XFX 780i. The temps are always wrong and not just slightly but by about 40C. Not that I would want to use this program to monitor my temps but it's still an annoyance.

I tried Performance->Device Settings-> GPU, click "Find Optimal". Go the blue screen of death almost immediately.

This is what Windows reported: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER

I tried just clicking test, with no changes and it seemed to work fine.

Why do you think its overclocking itself?

NVM...

"Don't ever us a auto'overclocker like that. Do all the work yourself, moving up slowly. It sounds like your PC is just overclocking its self to far."

Find optimal might try to OC your hardware.

As always, don't click it if your crashes your system! XD

I would strongly advise against using this for overclocking. I ended up with corrupted windows. Seems as buggy as ntune. I uninstalled it and will never use it again..............

Well it works with XFX 630i board but it only allows you change FSB, ram timings, gpu clocks, and pci-e slot mhz which i dont change anyway. system monitor kept crashing it wouldnt run right. It does show more details of the system than ntune does on the 630i and its faster at loading than ntune. well thats about it thought i'd add my input. uninstalled it though maybe when its finished it'll be a better program than ntune.

this app freezes my PC if i try to adjust the FSB by just 1mhz, is there a fix

I currently have my pc overclocked (via bios) to a stable speed and would like to use this app to switch between default speed and my overcloked speed but it locks up the PC soon as i click apply.

any help appreciated

Don't use aps to OC, do it in BIOS.

Don't use aps to OC, do it in BIOS.

my post already stated that i overclock in the bios!!!

I want this app to work so i can change between my known good overclock settings and the default settings on the fly.

i.e. full speed when i fancy some gaming and factory speeds when it just idles and acting as a movie player (less noise)

currently i have to reboot to change between the 2 - i have the profiles stored in bios but would like to be able to change in windows, which would be alot less hassle

That is OCing with an Ap.

you know what i mean

besides its underclocking with an app ;)
