getting ready to flash 07 bios and was wondering if this matters at all. Also do you need to clear cmos after this update? Thanks

Its a good idea to clear the CMOS after updating a motherboard's BIOS.

Should also mention when updating the BIOS, your system should no be overclocked.

The flashing of mobo Bios automatically resets all the Bios values to their default values. So in my opinion, there's no need/usability of resetting Bios before & after flashing because flashing will do that for you.

Flash your Bios & then change the default values to your liking.I hope it answers your question. :)

Some windows based BIOS flashers try to save the info, then mess up putting it back in, so it is best to clear it afterwards.

Using the windows based flash apps is bad idea to begin with. ALWAYS FLASH FLASH FROM A BOOTABLE DISK IF POSSIBLE.
as for resetting the BIOS first, not neccesary but most likely a good idea to prevent your OC from causing any errors during flash.

I always do Windows Flash as floppies seem to go bad so often. It took 3 floppies to get my raid driver in. All good IMB ones too.

Sounds like a corrupt floppy drive. ive had to deal with that one before too.
Thats why alot of manufacturers offer bios in .iso form now.

I have a DVD-RW that I use for BIOS flashing. Its probably cheaper than trying to find floppies nowadays and its -RW so I just keep it updated with latest BIOS. Have another one for memtest.

I just use Windows flash, it works better, and is easier.

IBM floppies? I haven't seen those in years. Probably going bad from age, try using the Imation (from wal-mart if your state side), their like 3 bucks. I use them for Bios flashing, and in case I need a blind flash for my video bios.

Make sure their not for Mac they have Mac and IBM boxes look the same.

I was using brand new, sealed, mil-spec IMB floppys. I think ABITs raid drivers are crap.
