well my problem is I only have two lights...the blue and the amber. I currently have both lights turned on and I don't really know why... I get the green light for not even a second but it does blink really fast once when I turn on the power. My fans also don't run...none of them run...my led on the external fans blink like the green light once. So pretty much no video, no fan, nothing other then the blue and amber/yellow light. This is my replacement board and the first one I didn't even see the green light so I guess you can say it's an improvement.
XFX said that maybe it's my cpu or some other faulty component. Could it be my components or cpu? or what other possible solutions could I try?

Sounds like a couple of the other posters were having the same problem. Try pulling the mobo out of the case and placing it on the anti-static bag and then powering up to eliminate the possibility its caused by a short somewhere. Also, it could be one of your components. First one I would look at is the PSU.

well...my psu should be working. It was powering another pc. Could it be a compatibility issue with the PSU?

I have only heard of one instance of a PSU not working with a particular mobo. So it can happen I suppose. Honestly though, your troubles sound exactly like one of the other threads and he was able to get his to boot just fine after he pulled it out of the case.

I guess I could try that. I've checked some of the other threads too, but I think I'll do that tomorrow when I have more time to do troubleshooting.

is it safe to run the mobo without anything connected to it other then the power supply and the cpu without heatsink?

Run the CPU with the heatsink on, but fan not plugged in.

No heatsink would kill the CPU faster than anything. And put 1 stick of memory in it.

Well, i got it working now. Problem now is that I have no sound. I also can't seem to add more then one memory stick...

well i changed my voltage and now I have 4 gb of memory but still can't figure out my sound. I've updated to sp3 for xp and still nothing, plus the realtek driver...any suggestions?

Unplug the cable for the sound and plug it back in. I know it sounds weird, but I've heard of this bug before with the Realtek driver.
