I'm sure you will. I'll try to update this more or less every week, so if you see that there's some difference between this record and the official F@H record you will know why. Of course if someone wants a modification done sooner then that just mention that in your post and I'll get on it.

Thanks for the new nice thread.

It's nice to see I'm in a nice place somewhere in the middle (64,000 Pts), but I guess it'll take some time till I'll reach a new milestone (125,000 Pts)...;-)

It's a good place to be and good luck getting there. Looks as though you are well on your way zachig. As for me I still have months of work ahead of me. By the way, nice avatar you got there. It reminds me of when my dad used to say he was not born, but hatched and with a cigar in his mouth at birth. Anyway hopefully I can think of some other useful thread ideas to put in this forum in order to beef it up a bit. Glad you like the current one :).

Well.. it looks like I'll start scoring soon atleast. The SMP client is running a lot faster than the other.

Im at about 69% so far. I have been averaging about 1% per 12 minutes..

Well that's the SMP for you ;). Congrats on the upload. So which
username are you folding under anyway?

Edit: Just uploaded the list again so let me know if there are any errors.

Edit #2: On I side note I'd like to know whether or not you guys would like me to list significant contributions from the past week in order to recognize those individuals. This could be done weekly or monthly.

Well that stinks. Still it's only 1 days work so it's isn't a huge deal. Hope you get it up and running soon and gooid luck with your faulty drivers or whatever the problem is. There are a number of knowledgeable people around here, both on folding, hardware, and software issues so if you have any trouble in the future might as well ask them. It would be a shame to not use a resource that is so readily available.

That's awesome coxmaster, and it looks to really be making a difference in our day to day output. I made another update to the milestone thread, which should reflect your current folding statistics up to the time that I posted this thread and according to F@H. We reached a new team milestone today (or possibly yesterday) of 6million points! Congratulations everyone!

slugbug
02-21-2008, 04:34 PM
FAHMON says I'm doing 1654 points per day, but make that a little less because I turn my PC off at night. I'm doing less WU's per month with the SMP client, but getting a lot more points. So far this month I've done 12 WUs and 7,629 points.

Great thread ZhengHe! Thank you :)

Doesn't really matter to me... would take a fair bit of work to monitor this and see what would actually constitute above-average results though, especially since PPD tends to imitate a sine wave with peaks followed by troughs, before peaking again! Personally, I don't need to have my PPD specially recognized or anything.

If you are looking for other ideas though, to save ya some trouble my only suggestion might be to just make note of new folders we bring on board that complete their first WU. Even the people that fold just a little are as important as myself or any other guy with a folding farm for keeping the team going strong. :)

You've already done a good deal of work on getting the Bjorn3D team climbing higher again in the rankings, nice job ZhengHe :icon_tiphat:

Thanks Kougar. Yeah that is a good idea. I might try doing that, though the question is whether or not to put that information in the actual first post and just update it or post it within the the thread instead. In the first case anyone checking their ranking would see it if they scrolled down a bit, but for those who don't putting it in a more recent post might end up with more people actually seeing it (specifically those it applies to).

I hit it yesterday afternoon.

Congratulations slugbug. Keep up the good working units. By the way it seems as though Kakao Stats keeps updated with a few milestones, so I can at least list them without any trouble.

Milestones for this week:

Kougar hit 700,000 pts.

srpeters and Sadasius hit 70,000 pts.

slugbug hit 50,000 pts.

The_Gonz hit 30,000 pts.

ekillips hit 9,000 pts.

coxmaster hit 7,000 pts.

socdrizzt hit 5,000 pts.

Andrew1990 hit 2,000 pts.

Pablo finished 4 working units to a grand total of 7

SUEJ finished the 2 working units

and I think that is about it.

And to those who were not listed this week. The equally important folding masses of Bjorn3D who keep our team alive and afloat my sincerest congratulations to you as well. Remember the first working unit is just as important is the 100th so I'd love to see some new people folding and if you are thinking about joining the team, but put it off do it. Good luck to everyone in the new week.

Awesome, I look forward to seeing you up on the stats page. Also congratulations are due to slugbug who just completed 62,000 points, a major milestone. As for cvasquez and kitten I'm in a bit of a hurry so an answer to your questions may have to wait. Sorry, but if you visit the Folding@Home FAQ (http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ) that may help in answering some of your questions. Once I get the new F@H guide up all relevant questions will be answered there so stay tuned.

I've updated the Milestone list, for anyone who wants to take a look. In the 2 1/2 weeks since I've updated there have been a number of extremely significant milestones broken. Hopefully I take those into account before I leave, but if not then they're easy enough to see.

I think it'll take me some time till my next milestone, as I had to quit folding on my current laptop. Unfortunately, since I'll be quitting my job officially tomorrow, I'll have to return my "work" laptop, so I'll only be folding from time to time on my current Desktop I have at home...

When I'll start working in my new workplace on April 1st (after a two-weeks vacation ) I'll see whether I'll get a laptop and/or desktop on which hopefully I'll be able to do some folding as well...;-)

Till then, :keepfolding: guys! :icon_tiphat:

You are consufed? HHAHA....makes us TWO big time.
I am new in this forum and this is what I hate about it.

These should help you two:

Stanford's goal: to understand protein folding, protein aggregation, and related diseases.

What are proteins and why do they "fold"? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out their biochemical function, they remarkably assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's disease.

What does Folding@Home do? Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which studies protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and related diseases. Stanford uses novel computational methods and large scale distributed computing, to simulate timescales thousands to millions of times longer than previously achieved. This has allowed us to simulate folding for the first time, and to now direct Stanford's approach to examine folding related disease.

How can you help? You can help Stanford's project by downloading and running their client software. Stanford's algorithms are designed such that for every computer that joins the project, Stanford gets a commensurate increase in simulation speed. For more information and to download the client go here Folding@Home Website

Are you folding on PS3s werty? That's some serious point improvement over previous months. I'm using the SMP client on a single PC for now, but plan to install Ubuntu 64bit and the linux SMP client on my Opteron rig soon.

Nope, no PS3; I did have two quadcore MacPro machines running the SMP slient however one of them is having issues so only one is folding for now. On top of that I got my rig at home running the SMP client when it can.

Yeah I did and that is great. He's already put in a few thousand points, which should really help us in getting back above the PS Forum EU team and a number of other teams with similar outputs as us. Additionally that should help to offset the temporary loss of a few of our big contributors to the team. Hats off to you.

Thanks for the explanation werty. It was very to the point so hopefully they see it. Anyway the output has been great, though it has dipped a bit from previous weeks due to a number of unforeseen circumstances. Hope to see the point total up for next week with perhaps a few new contributors.

My output is actually down right now because I'm in SC. Well that sounds good. You can only do what you can do after all. So why are you in South Carolina anyway, business?

This week hasn't exactly been stellar for Folding production anyway. Slugbug's production was down, although it seems to be picking back up. Your production is down significantly and for obvious, uncontrollable reasons. Sadasius's production is also way down, although I can't seem to figure out why. Zachig has flatlined for obvious reasons along with The_Gonz for not nearly so obvious reasons. Sushrukh's production as also flatlined for reasons unknown along with =CDU=Above. SonicWRX's output has had a significant drop and borschtBomber[SS] also isn't producing quite as much as what he used to.

Of course there has been some success stories with some new producers and other members being able to produce more then they used to, but in general the production has gone down significantly. To be exact our production has gone down by 26,000 points just in this week, and that might be optimistic. We need to find a surer way to produce consistent production even if a few members have to dial down or stop their own production. What this means is some of those older members need to be dug up again along with, but that alone won't do it. In the end, what we really need is to attract some new, high producing members to our cause. As for ways to do that I'm still formulating a plan.

What has become absolutely obvious is that this has been a bad production week coinciding exactly with a rather inactive forum week. The too are not unrelated, but this week is almost over. Let us start a new week on Sunday with a strengthened production newly focused vision toward our purpose and our goal. Beating out PS Forum EU wouldn't be too bad either ;). They really whipped us this week.

Sadasius
03-21-2008, 04:34 PM
My production is down because two of my work computers crapped out. One completely crapped out as the motherboard is finished. The capacitors near the CPU socket are bulging and just constantly restarts and shuts down. The one I am on now for some reason cannot handle the folding without artifacts suggesting it is going out of commission as well. Also for some damn reason the PS3 is getting these tiny score WU's that do not make up much points. I noticed many people have that same problem too. I think there is a new problem emerging with the PS3 folding. But we are supposed to get a new computer at work in a couple weeks. Guess they ordered it. I told them what it needed to work again and instead they order one. Well it's not my money...lol. But also my production will jump way up very soon when my new rig is built as I will be folding with that as well.

slugbug
03-21-2008, 05:17 PM
I ran into 2 WU's that crapped out halfway through earlier in the week. I'm in the process of finishing my computer room renovations and will have another PC up and folding soon. I'm going to try 64bit Ubuntu on it because I hear the Linux folding client is quite a bit faster.

I should be getting my Q6600 soon, so that should speed up my folding as well.

Umm, this doesn't make a lick of sense to me. Dial down, you say? Stop production?

In the end, what we really need is to attract some new, high producing members to our cause. As for ways to do that I'm still formulating a plan.

My apologies, perhaps I wasn't clear. What I meant to say was that we ought to be in a position that if certain people go offline for a few days our entire output doesn't plummet. A more rounded team, so to speak and perhaps a more top down way of dealing with it, though I'm still arguing the merits of that approach. As for Bjorn3d swag that sort of stuff might be in the works from what I heard from Scott, though I'd like to get an overall strategy together before delving into something like that, just to keep perspective.

Additionally this is all secondary to the updated F@H guide, which I'm putting quite a bit of work into and may push some of this back a few days. The completion date is looking like Sunday, though it may have to be pushed back a few days for modifications and revisions. Unfortunately my clarity of language isn't anywhere near my research ability to editing is taking up quite a bit of time. Oh and thanks for the complement, though it will be a few months before I'll be able to gain a perspective one what kind of job I'm doing.

My production has actually increased recently.. quite a lot. Im averaging just over 1000 pts per day, which isnt bad for a single Core2Duo

I've noticed that and it really is quite impressive. Based upon the numbers you seem to have almost identical stats to what I have with Core2Duo, which probably means you're running at peak efficiency.

There's another thing I'd like to address sooner rather then later. Based on current and future stats I think that with the addition of a few more key members and a bit of recruitment we can reach a weekly output of 200,000 points per week. I've been watching the stats closely and too my mind it is possible. Anyway some sufficient motivation would need to be in place to speed the process up. I was thinking I might shave my head when we reach that milestone, but based on the uneven shape of my skull that seems like a bad idea.

Second on the list is a logo for the folding team, which seems long overdue. I've been working on some introductory sketches, but there hasn't been a breakthrough yet with those. Perhaps I'll post some of them up toward the end of the week or start a thread contest for designing one, assuming we have a few artists around here.

One more secondary item, which I would like to cover quickly is the addition of a "Conquest Thread", as in teams we have conquered. It might help motivate the team and more effectively show where we are and where we want to be. Plus striking through teams we have conquered just seems fun, related to that whole pseudo military theme of conquest and strategy that fits so neatly into our Folding discussions.

Guess that's it for tonight. Any feedback on any of this points would be awesome. Hopefully I can find a better place to put these updates in the future, but for now good night, good luck, and merry folding.

I won't respond to that one, because I have very different views than you, apparently and I don't want to take it too far off topic. But I got out because my contract was up. Nothing special about it really.:offtopic:

ZhengHe
03-22-2008, 05:52 AM
Yes, best to not take this off topic, as there are plenty of other available threads to do so and it tends to be more interesting if you have 10 people debating at the same time. That way it takes a great deal of concentration to figure out who is saying what when. Anyway I'm still up looking up at the team stats, modifying my F@H FAQ, and trying to figure out why my last working unit produced so few points. Well that's life. Probably looked at the team stats a few dozen times today as well. They are up a bit, which is good, but not enough to stop off from losing a rank by week's end. Not yet anyway ;).

On a side note I'm in the market for a used PS3, as bare bones as I can find: one controller, no games, and the lowest price I can possibly find. If anyone sees someone selling one on a tech forum let me know, though I'm not willing to go above $300 for it. Just figure that should boost my output and help the team out a bit. As it stands now my current production is not worthy of a team captain and I feel a bit guilty about it, so that is going to have to change one way or another. Last post for the night (really this time) so good night all.

On another note electricity is free in the dorms, so if you have an older rig that is too expensive you run anymore give me a holler. I might be willing to buy it off you for folding purposes.

300,000........

Congratulations RiverRicer on a remarkable achievement and consistently high production. You're the second highest 24 hour contributor this week, which is awesome too.

Even though it's midway through the week I probably won't be able to do this later, so here goes:

RiverRicer surpassed 300,000 points

Sadasius surpassed 100,000 points

werty316 surpassed 90,000 points

slugbug surpassed 80,000 points

ZhengHe surpassed 40,000 points

coxmaster surpassed 30,000 points

the_dope_chaud surpassed 7,000 points

socdrizzt surpassed 6,000 points

Dan and jellyrole surpassed 5,000 points

jellyrole also completed his first working unit

This week's top producer was srpeters with a 24 hour average of 1,793 points.

As this is a little early for posting stats I will try and update them, if I can, later on in the week. Congratulations to everyone who made the list along with all the rest of our team members. Your contributions are equally appreciated so thank you.

I will try to widen out the milestone list for next week, since at the moment it is taking more or less directly off the EOC stats page. The revised list will attempt to tie in more key contributors and tie in to the wider scope of the team so let me know what you think of it for next week.

On another note I was thinking of starting up a Folder of the Month type award, though how that would be formulated and what the criteria should be still alludes me. While I don't want to downplay the contributions of our veterans it would be be nice to give an equal chance to newcomers as well. It's just a stray thought really, but perhaps you guys have some ideas on it.

Hey guys. Sorry about me being absent for the last few days. I went over the bandwidth limit and it's been hard to get to a computer lab with everything going on as it is, but this is wednesday and at the very least we need a new milestone update. The computer has also been down for folding since it can't send the working units, in case you were wondering why production has gone down. Anyway, here are the milestones for the week:

RiverRicer has reached 320,000

Null has reached 180,000

srpeters18 has reached 140,000

coxmaster reached 40,000 points

jellyrole reached 10,000 points

Dan reached 9,000 points

the_dope_chaud reached 8,000 points

socdrizzt reached 7,000 points

Tony completed his 5th working unit

n4rc0sis completed his or her first working Unit

Null has the highest 24 hour point average at 2,115 per hour.

Not all the impressive for the week and our production has been down, but that has as much to do with my abscence as anything else. Hopefully I can get one of these lab computers to do some diskless folding until my laptop comes back online, sometime next week. Until then I hope everyone is doing well and keep on folding!

Which stats are wrong? Is it the EOC stats or the official page?? I have had issues before with F@H not uploading my results.. sometimes its b/c the upload server it tries to use is down or unresponsive. Give it a while and it will eventually update (or it does for me atleast)

Kougar
04-11-2008, 10:22 PM
Cox, the problem wasn't on my end as the units had uploaded just fine, they just weren't being shown in the stats. And it was with the stats at Stanford's end, was not a problem with EOC's stats specifically. Turns out it was probably just a leftover residual effect from last week where they had two servers not giving credits, which they had corrected.

They said there still might be the occasional delay before the stats fully update for one or two users, but it is best to wait two or three days for missing WUs to show in stats. I just had my previous day's worth of missing work units credited to me all at once, so I'm happy. ;)

After a week of downtime along with several failed attempts to install a 64 bit system to run Folding@Home off I'm back. The output seems to have gone up for this week and hopefully my own folding should be able to push it higher then it already is. With my own internet outages many things were put on the back burner, so there should be a number of necessary updates in the next few days. Additionally we beat the Microsoft folding team this week. A stated objective from way, way back. Congratulations to everyone for getting this far. Here are the milestones for the week:

Tony and n4rc0sis have completed over 1,000 points

socdrizzt has completed over 8,000 points

the_dope_chaud has completed over 9,000 points

Dan and jellyrole have completed over 10,000 points

darkorb has completed over 20,000 points

TagCdog and coxmaster have completed over 50,000 points

raidersforever01 has completed over 80,000 points

slugbug has completed over 110,000 points

Sadasius has completed over 120,000 points

Null has completed over 190,000 points

RiverRicer has completed over 330,000 points

Absolut352 has completed over 490,000 points

Kougar has completed over 800,000 points

DemonicDerek has completed his first working unit and Kougar is the top daily producer with an average of 2,073 points a day.

Wait til I get my E6750 rig up and running again

Your output is already impressive so I can only imagine.

Some of you may have noticed that we beat the Microsoft folding team, but for those of who didn't let that just sink in for a moment.

We Beat Microsoft!

Booyah. On a totally different note you may have noticed my folding stats have gone down to almost nothing this week, which is entirely my own folding. Bandwidth is regulated at school and I let a download go awry one day, which let to a week of downtime and the team losing a potential 7,000 points increase. I am sorry.

On another note I am taking Das Capitolin's challenge seriously and intend to start folding for Kougar right now. Hopefully this will decrease the time it should take to close in on his obvious lead in score, which at current output would take 10 months.

Of course I realize there is a folding competition going on so many of you will first want to make sure all your working units taken care of. That aside you may want to join in with folding for Kougar as well. If we all band together we should be able to close the gap in mere months and perhaps less. Plus we will have answered Das's obvious challenge with the full force our team can offer, which is quite substantial.

Some of you may have noticed I had mentioned coming into possession of a $50 Amazon.com gift card sometime soon. This is indeed the case and should be occuring sometime soon. If all goes well intend to put it toward a folding logo contest or an outright Folding team competition. With such a sum we should hopefully be able to attract a few graphic designers to really create something spectacular for the team. The collective talent of our own community is quite substantial as well, so I can only imagine what sort of entries we might get.

Finally these entries in the milestone thread are obviously unrelated to the Milestone thread, but I really don't have any other place to put them. At least not yet. Perhaps a blog style thread for my own progress would be more appropriate. Whatever you guys prefer I will go ahead with. Anyway, guess that is about it for now. Good night and Good Folding!

Not just that, but our Bjorn3D Folding team now has a grand total of

Over 7,000,000 Points!!!

I finally updated the frontpage milestone list on this thread as it had not been updated for quite a few weeks. There are a number of new users on it, so if you hadn't seen your name there before it should be there now. If not, let me know and I'll fix it.

Edit for 4/24/08:

Didn't really want to make a double most, so I will list the milestones here. Before I do congratulations on a landmark week. Not only were we able to significantly increase our production and beat out quite a few teams, but a few new members have also joined our ranks. Congratulations and to those new to the team welcome! Now without further ado this week's milestones:

TomatoSlayer topped 1,000 points

n4rc0sis topped 3,000 points

Xantor topped 5,000 points

asterasy topped 7,000 points

jellyrole topped 20,000 points

bobletman topped 60,000 points

Neal_White_III topped 80,000 points

werty316 topped 110,000 points

slugbug topped 120,000 points

Sadasius topped 130,000 points

Null topped 200,000 points

RiverRicer topped 350,000 points

Absolut352 topped 500,000 points

Das Capitolin topped 1,180,000

bromro and DemonicDerek completed their first and second working units, respectively.

Forsook also completed his first working units, along with an additional 17 others.

Our top producer for this week was Kougar with 3,976 per day. Additionally, we had two people (Kougar and werty316) with an output of over 3,000 points per day. This is a Bjorn3D Folding team first as far as I can tell.

Congratulations to everyone listed along with all the other team members. All your efforts are very appreciated. Keep up the folding and I hope to see you all back next week with an even bigger milestone list new conquests, and a whole new list of people to congratulate. Enjoy your week.

Sincerely,
ZhengHe

Congratulations slugbug. It looks like you're moving in on srpeters18 as well :). I updated the frontpage yesterday so if anyone wasn't on it before they should be with the update. You just wait till I get home on Friday and get my quad back up and folding. My wife said it keeps coming back with an error, so I've got to figure out what that is. Then I'll be up and running again. Plus I'll be able to leave the laptop folding 24x7 again, instead of locking it up in the hotel room for 10 hours a day. Both work units had crapped out and the Linux SMP client managed to successfully send what was completed (2883 points) up to that point. I've never seen that with the Windows SMP client. When something like that happened in Windows I always lost work units.

@slugbug.......Are you using the 5.92 update? I'm having similar issues with SMP. The scrolling text on load and startup gets truncated to the left of the command screen, then generally throws the 'early end' BS, but all four cores are hammered 100%. I say WTF, shut the console down and restart/shutdown/restart until it starts clean. Annoying!

I was referring to Linux. I'm running 2 instances of the Linux SMP client on my quad core rig with Ubuntu 8.04 64bit. I have no problems whatsoever as long as I shut the clients down using CTRL and C. The lockup prevented me from doing this so that's why I ran into some problems.

I shut down the Windows 5.92 SMP client (on my dual core rig) in the same way and haven't had a problem since.
