My problem is similar to those that I have read on here already, but with some differences.

When I start up, I make it through POST, and get CMOS CheckSum error, which I know is usually related to a dead CMOS battery, so I replaced it, still get the same error.

But this error doesn't prevent me from getting any further, I can just F1 and go on, and the OS boots up.

But, if I try to do a restart, or a shut down and then start up, I don't even get to POST. All of the lights (blue, green and amber) are all on....all of the fans run, but nothing on the screen.

I clear the CMOS jumper, and everything works again, other than getting the CMOS CheckSum error. If I try to make changes in the BIOS, and save them, the computer does the restart, and again get nothing, all lights on, fans running and nothing on the screen.

This is getting frustrating....have been at this all of today....

Computer Specs:

XFX nForce 680i LT 775 socket motherboard
Intel Pentium Dual Core E2180 2 Ghz CPU
OCZ Platinum 2048 MB RAM
Ultra 750w X2 Power Supply
XFX GeForce 8600 GT 256 MB w/dual link DVI

Thanks in advance:help:

I would say try to flash the BIOS to the latest version and see if that helps. If not, maybe a bad BIOS?

I tried to Flash. I got a message that the update and the motherboard numbers don't match...or something like that

I had exactly the same problem with the POST/BIOS and update - sounds like you have the wrong bios ISO. There's an Nvidia one and an XFX one. When I tried to install the former, it said it didn't match, but the latter worked perfectly.

Both are available on the XFX site and after the flash everything worked fine.

Sounds like you are in deep troubleshooting here.
