I am really liking the price for a full gb of memory on this card.

I would save your money and get a 512MB version instead as benchmarks have shown that a 1GB version has no real advantage over the 512MB version.

Just asking yourself this question, are you willing to pay $50 more on a 1GB version when you won't see a gaming performance difference between it and a 512MB version? Don't let the amazement of having a video card with 1GB of onboard memory cloud your judgment.
If you really want one, and if my memory serves me right, you should have got one when NCIX had them on sale at one time for $250 a while back.

1GB one is really just a cheap Quadro card.

Sometimes your comments make my laugh Miker :dielaffin:

As far as I know its a 8800GT but with 1GB of onboard video memory...

They are great at what Quardos do with that extra RAM, with way less cost. My dad's work just got 6 or so PCs with dual 8800GT 1Gs (Not in SLI) for a VR system...

I am quite sure tyle6 won't be using it for a vr system...
Give him your opinion on what he is thinking instead of coming up with half-baked comments.

Why would he need a Quadro? I was just saying what they where thinking when they made a 1G card.

Did I say he needs or wants a Quadro? You are the one who brought up that topic.
Read what tyle6 is asking of us about the descision he wants to make conerning the new vdieo card he is considering and comment on it!

He asked what we thought, I said it is like a Quadro, which he knows is not any better for games, but good at rendering/modeling.
I told him what I thought about that card.

I wouldn't bother with the 1Gb version, as have been mentioned, you won't see much of a difference. Save the extra money and buy some additional RAM for the computer instead.

Over on NCIX the sale is over and its up to 329.99 :frown:
I really was just intrigued with the 1g vram, Ive read some reviews that claim the only thing holding back the newer GT and GTS was the lack of Vram. Thing is can a 256mb bus even adress all that? the added mem would def. be nice on a GTX.
If i do go with a 512mb card i am hoping that extra 50 bucks will go towards a GTS. trying to stay right around 300-

The GTS is about 5-10FPS quicker than the GT, I'm very satisfied with my 8800GT as I can play all the games I play on high at native res of my 24"...here in AU the GTS is ~AU$100 more than the GT so I didn't feel the extra performance was worth that.
But I guess it depends on personal preference. :-D

Very true, $100 for a few more FPS is def. not worth it. I guess if you got one of those beasty ones and OCed to h*ll it would be though!

Just get a 8800GT 521MB along with 2x120mm, 2x100m, or 2x92mm fans slapped onto an Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 and you should be quite happy.

Inno3D 8800GT with Accelero S1 with 1 120mm overclocked to 700/1750/950 load temps of ~60*C and running Crysis at ~30FPS on High...can't complain.
EDIT:
Missed my 100th post...:wohoo:

I played doom 3 with my 8800GT triple x dog but it seemed to lag a little with 1280x1024 resol. Probably not optimized or need of more memory..... Maybe 1gig could help those.

1280x1024 no way you need more mem. 1280x1024 runs great at 256m. 512m is good up to 1900x1200. (What ever that 1900x is...)

Hmm...I play BF2, HL2, COD4 on highest quality at 1920x1200 with no lag, and Crysis on High at 1280x1024 averaging 30-35FPS...don't know how Doom 3 would lag at 1280x1024...

Well, I do most of my gaming right now at 1280x1024. Thing is am gettin a new HDTV and also want to be able to game on my buddies 52" HDTV.
Thats where I was hopeing that extra memory on the 1gb card would come into play.

Depending on if it is full HD or not, if it is that 52" will have a resolution of 1920x1080...I still don't think the 1Gb version is worth the extra money...but hey...personal preference

512m will still be ok at 1920x1080, 256m wouldn't work that well though.
