Hi i sent you a ticket today about an alphadog card that do a high pitch whining sound (NOT FAN BUT COIL SOUND).

i've seen this problem a lot on forums, I want a cross shipping. I need a response for my ticket fast.

I happen to have the same problem. Many people have the same problem. I am wondering now if it is only XFX cards or other manufactorers cards as well. Let me know if you find out something, because if it is a big problem I will have to RMA my card as well.

What power supplies are you using for these cards, and also system spec please.

I didn't get a PM with your ticket number so toss me that and I can have it looked into. Also does it only happen in ATI tool, not in any other game or application (I have seen ATI tool cause issues with some of the 8 series cards)? Can't promise anything as far as the cross shipment goes but I will see what can be done if you wish to RMA the card. However if it is still a new purchase you might also be able to swap it with your retailer if you wish.

My power supply is a new silverstone element sf50 ( one of the best stable power supply in sale right now and i'm pretty confident in it)

The whining is yes mostly in ATI tool but strangely i also have very poor performance with the card. And a program should'nt make a video card cry if the card have quality component and is not defect. It's not like the program have control over the regulation of voltage hehe

I get 10000 in 3dMark05 where others with similar setup ( i have a phenom cpu)
get like 15000 minimun.

Also the FPS in ATI tool is very unstable it goes from 700fps to 1000 all the time.

I opened a ticket #139806 with you, hoping for the crossshipping.

If i return the card to directcanada and pay 25$ for shipping + 3week without my computer, first of all, i'm gonna loose all the money i've put in the card because i do 3d stuff so i need the card for work.

and secondo, i'm going to take the new gigabyte with the new high quality electric components and 3 phase power to be sure i don't have the same problem that so much people seem to have with 8800gt in general and XFX.

I wanted XFX because i thought it was the best company and i still want to stick with you, I hope you will accept the crossshipping and test the card first with atitool for stable fps + no coil noise, if yes i'll stick with you. Also do you have any 3 phase power 8800gt?? Might as well send me one with it hehe

FPS go up and down, it is what they do. 700-1000 is a big hit, my guess is something else in your PC is making that happen. Have you disabled serial and parallel ports in BIOS?

Looking at that PSU, it could be the PSU, only 18amp per a 12v and 500w total.

The winning is also there in 3dMark05, but just a little more subtle than with ati tool, i guess it's the power regulator or something that is unstable at high load.

What CPU do you have?

There is a chance it is PSU not having enough power.

no it's not the PSU it can merge the AMP of both rail on one. so it's 36amp. And also 500watt is enough, all my components togheter take no more than 350-380watts or so. A lot of people have this power supply with 8800GT without problems.

the thing is that the high pitch whining change in pitch and at high pitch the fps in atitools are at 1000 and return at 700-800 at low pitch.

I don't see how parallel port could affect the stability of the videocard fps hehe
Anyway they are disabled. Also, i test without any process in background.

And even if the card would be fine witch i assume is not the case,
the whining at high load is still there and it mean it could be big problem for me in the future and I want a passive system so irritating whining is out of the question for me. I just paid 300$ for the card, I expect a top quality card or top quality service ;).

yay something is really wrong 10000 in 3dmark05 = a 8600gt card
And it's not like it's because of my cpu, i have a phenom 9500 + am2 board

I tried multiple tweak but something is really wrong with this card.

peti1212 can you tell me what your score is with 3dmark05??

and others xfx 8800gt xt user also please.

Serial and Parallel ports can interup the CPU. Thus making it lag for a split second.

3dMark05 doesn't take the best advantage of multicore cpus, and your 9500 is only 2.2ghz in such a situation compared to the 3ghz+ of those 'similar spec' systems running X2s or even single cores.

Run 3dMark06 and give us all of the numbers, including CPU marks, or wait for the new 3dMark that was supposed to be out six months ago.

I get 9500 in 3dmark06 and this with default and vsync off witch is totally under the normal speed for a 8800gt (14k+ is normal).

Anyway I'll wait to see what support offer me because i cannot live with this poor score and whining noise at high load
