Hello everybody!
I was doing a research on the internet and i found out this forum to be the most complete one.
Well, my problem is the following:
I have a K9VGM-V motherboard, and i recently got the XFX 8800GT card...But is not working.
Is there a tutorial to make it work? Do i need to install something on my system?
Thanks for your help.

Have you made sure the motherboard has the latest BIOS?

You should contact your Mobo maker to get a BIOS update that supports PCI-e 2.0.

PCIe 2.0 is fully backwards compatible with 1.0 so that shouldn't be a problem...my board is only 1.0 but I run my 8800GT fine..

Your best bet would be to check if there is an updated version of the BIOS for your motherboard.

Also, have you connected the 6-pin PCIe Power connector to the videocard?

It seems there is an incompatibility between the VIA chipset and the 8800GT (or any other PCIe 2.0 card)...

Some cheap, low end chipsets that are PCI-e 1.0 don't work with 2.0 cards, they need a BIOS update for your Mobo.

That is a VIA, cheap, budget chipset that has compatibility problems with PCI-e 2.0, if your MoBo company doesn't have a BIOS update XFX has a GPU BIOS update that makes it work, but it is a hack, that might hurt performance.

Notably the VIA chipsets.

Notably the VIA chipsets.

Most notably, there are other low end chipsets that have problems.

Yes, it seems to be a VIA issue...as noted in my reply above...after doing a bit of googling...

If you ask nicely the XFX support guys here should be able to provide you with a BIOS update for your 8800GT that sets it to PCIe 1.0 and hence will work with your VIA chipset.

But to say it again, it is best to get a MoBo BIOS update. (Maybe even a new Mobo)

Best option BUT it means spending money :)

Yeah team with your mobo manufacture first to see if they have an actual fix for the issue, if not start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com and let me know the ticket number. We have a work around, however you will have to flash your video card in another computer for it to work.

Also, if you want to use the card in a PCI-e 2.0 PC you will have to flash it back. Why it is best to get a BIOS update from your Mobo company.
