Later this year Disney hopes to "redefine the off-road racing genre" with Pure.

And of course kids don't try this at home, not unless you have someone recording your act of lunacy!

"Players start by choosing among a variety of male and female character riders. They can then either race against deft A.I. opponents or online players (up to 16-player multiplayer) in frenetic races and freestyle competitions all over the world."

As a motocrosser I can tell you 90% of these games just blow. Motocross Madness 2 for the PC ranks #1 (Doesn't like XP SP2), and MX vs ATV Unleased is what I play now.

I am not going to hate on Disney for a game like this. I am sure Disney has large sums of money in the bank so there should be no corners cut. Also this game can be rated E for everyone and still be fun as it is a racing/stunt game. Now if they were putting out an FPS I would be a bit more skeptical like yourself.

But Disney has nothing to do with the sport. EA always sponsors Supercross with their latest game.

The problem is most of these games they make to stunty and cartoony.

And no game has got ATVs right yet. If the developer just rode one once they would understand that you don't turn, you slide.

To me I don't mind if they have nothing to do with the actual sport as long as the game is fun. But I will agree with some games not getting ATV's correct, especially in the sand. I myself like the "stunty" behavior of these games as it is always fun to try and pull off a 10,000 point combo while 100 feet in the air.

RonRon would make the pro tracks in Motocross Madness then use that to learn to track.

But as a Motocrosser the 2 things I hate are ATV people (The polish the turns to much and messed up all the good ruts), and games that put more emphasis on stunts then racing. Most motocross games are aimed at kids that want to have fun, so they don't have shifting but have lots of big air and 8x backflips. I know lots of people like to win by doing more stunts, but I like to win by being #1.

This game does look good though.

Motocross Madness 2 is the best. However, it runs just fine on XP SP2. I've played through to the end several times on this PC with XP SP2 without any problems. Maybe it doesn't like your drivers or something.

Then I guess we're enemies. But your reasoning for hating ATV riders is BS. I belong to a club for ATVs and MX bikes with over 800 acres of land and trails out the ass. Most are rutted out and the corners are not even close to being "polished". The majority (90% or so) of members are ATV riders. ;)

Pure looks good from the screens, but I'm leaning toward what others have said. I'm not so sure Disney is the right company to be making MX/ATV type games. ;)

On motocross tracks they polish the turns so bad, then all these tracks over water and you go ice skating.

But you are right, in trails ATVs make good dual berms. usually the outside gets to deep though.

*Edit* Going to install MCM2 tonight and test it. If I lost my old tracks do you have any? MCM2.com shut down long ago.

Nope. I don't think I ever downloaded any add-on tracks, and I never finished creating any in the editor. ;)

But Disney does have a big background in wreckless stunts, after all, they raised the likes of Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan. LOL

Seriously though, what makes this game utterly unappealing to me is it's being centered around over the top unrealistic stunts, rather than racing. That isn't to say I wouldn't like to see some race course elements where you could do terrain type stunts though. I've yet to see a good off road racing game for ATVs, motorcycles, baja racers or trucks that doesn't have terrible graphics, animations, or this bizzare freestyle stunt element, esp on the PC platform.

2 games I always wanted.a GNCC trail game, and a Baja 1000 game on bikes.

Now those would be sweet!!! Add in realistic physics, as opposed to high flying off of small jumps, and some realistic damage (component breaks/bends and flats) and that would make an awesome off road game.

Dad is playing MCM2 right now on his PC, I am going to try to install it on mine!

We will also be able to play MotoGP2 networked.

*Edit* Only seem to have 1 MCM2 CD, I guess we will just play MotoGP2.
