So now that I have gotten the attention of the primary players at B3D. Lets continue.
If it is indeed the intension of B3D to grow their site and bring in new members, I have the way to do it. In fact, it is such a good idea I am not so sure I wish to reveal it here, for the following reasons:
1. It would likely be so explosive that your current systems and personnel could not handle the growth pattern.
2. It is so revolutionary that it might create some issues with your official tech support company's, if not handled properly.
3. It would bring in the primary market demographic so coveted by the competition, in such great numbers, that it would bring in the mass media, to comment on its impact to the competition, again if not handled properly, could cause undesirable results.
In fact I will not reveal it here. You will have to convince me instead. But I will give you some hints:
1. It involves video
2. Appeals to primary market consumers in an irresistible way.

All reviews are video and written. However, all video reviews are done by a beautiful, young lady, dressed in a sexy, hot outfit (tasteful, but hot). It is done in a fun way, with interaction between the young lady and the tech. reviewer (whom is to remain off camera, but with voice).
The tech reviewer will ask question of the young lady about the product, or just interject comments, relating to the product.
The idea here is to not overplay the sexual nature of the review process, but to have fun with the sexuality. The tech. reviewer is to NEVER make sexual comments or imply it. That is for the young lady to do. The roles brake down like this:
Young Lady's Role:
To be upbeat, excited, playful, and sexy. She is always dressed in a reveling outfit (again tasteful by reveling). Her role is to summarize the review in the video. As well as a possible installation demo of product.
Tech. Reviewers Role:
To preform all aspects of the review as usual, in the past. However, they must write the script outline for the video process. Mindful this is just an outline and not a word for word script the young lady will be reading from. It is only a guild line for the young lady as it relates to the product. They are to brief the young lady on the product, and its applications, but not to bog her down with tech data. His role on during shooting is to be the cameraman, off camera, with only voice interaction with young lady.
So this is the basic concept, if done properly, it could garner world wide attention, and bring in people by the millions, instead by the thousands.

I have a hot female friend who might help out.
The trick is to not seem gimmicky. That sort of thing erodes a site's reputation.

Very true, it cannot be gimmicky it must be FUN, and light hearted, but sexy.
The whole idea here is fun + sexy + tech = must see reviews.

I would think this kind of thing would grow bjorn3d's population but how many of those people would be watching the video for the review? I would think not very many.

As a t.v. producer, I have a fairly good idea about development and execution of the video. As any good producer will tell you, it is important to get feedback in the developmental stages.
New approaches arise with in the concept that help it convey its original intent. With that said, I would like input on role development of the two characters. In reality, it would be more like parameters, due to the fact that there are multiple reviews in different city's. So we are talking teams of players, with each there own styles.

I can see you've put a lot of thought into this, I offer my congrats for that and a good idea, as a tv producer you probably know a lot more about that field than I do, i've stated my opinion on the matter. let's see what Scott thinks.

Well I am sure there are many people like myself that read reviews and tech info while at work (actually kinda part of my job), however I would bet "the powers that be" would no be very forgiving when they walk by my desk and see me starring at a sexy lady. That is a recipe for all kinds of inner office trouble. Don't get me wrong I like the idea of seeing hot ladies hold the latest hardware but I do my surfing at work and when I get home, its all game time.

Actually I beat you to the idea in another thread, I already dubbed them "Bjorn Babes"
Any one ever been to a trade show, it doesn't degrade the quality of the information. Guys are the primary market for high end computer parts, and usually more than 95% of active users are MEN. Men like high tech toys, beer, and women. Any combination of the 3 is a winer.
Look at Beer commercials, scantily clad women. Look at most marketing and you'll see beautiful women. Tech sites just fell like it's a crime to have women show case products. It's not, it might be the woman that catches the eye, but after we stop thinking with our small head, it's the tech we see.
Here's the thread where I suggested it.

Or! If we want more females, put a picture of Scott in a banana hamic on the homepage.
I vote scantily clad women though.

God I could get women who would actually 'DO' the parts on video...LMAO. But as Shannon said I too mostly read the reviews at work as well and I would not be able to do that if it had revealing women on the video. It would definitely dubbed as inappropriate.

isn't that 3dgameman?
Yeah, that is 3dgameman. He's great.
Anyway, about this whole babe video review thing, you're just going to be attracting a bunch of horny 13 year old boys that like to play games but don't know crap about computers. They'll come in here wanting to learn about computers but end up fighting amongst themselves about who's the best runescape player there is.
I vote no on prop. babe. lol

Would B3D, or any of the primary players, have the resources (money needed) to act on this concept?

Rodney Reynolds (3DGameMan) used to have his wife help with his reviews towards the beginning. Sure, it probably brought in some readers, but it was always kind of cheezy to me. There is enough "sexyness" everywhere else these days that it is nice to get away from it now and again.
