i did not know where to put this so i put this in Off Topic.
a friend of mine has an ipod that when i turn it on it gives me a folder with an exclamation mark on it and then restarts.....when i plug it into the computer it shows the same sign then says "do not disconnect" then freezes up. ive tried restarting the thing (holding Menu+select for 6 secs) and still does the same thing. well.....im out of ideas....ive never had to fix an ipod.

Not to sure what to tell you...
You could try doing a full restore in Itunes or you could try this forum.

Take it to a Mac Store. They are good at fixing them.

Oh I have a friend who had this very same thing happened. Turned out it was actually a fake Ipod and there was nothing he could do about it. He bought is off of eBay. Still have it here in the desk actually and is pretty much useless.
