Werty has been chosen in the top 9 for ATi's 3780X2 over at DH, I think we should all jump over onto the site and give him our support.

EDIT: forgot link http://www.driverheaven.net/site-news/155401-ati-3870-x2-competition-vote-winner.html

Just voted for him. Up to 44 now. One guy has 48 though. They have an IP checker for the votes. So I will vote again when I get home.

That's cheating. One vote for person is sufficient. Besides, the mod already quoted a post made here so we know he's savvy.

The poll is expected to close at Monday night at 10pm GMT.

I think its pretty much safe to say that I don't have a chance and it looks as though it'll be between two users.

Well we tried werty. I was actually fairly surprised that yours didn't win and not a positive shock at that. Guess it is who can get the most people to rally around them in the end, which is often more a question of quantity then quality. Better luck next time.

Werty, it's your superb luck that you get picked in majority of the contests you do participate in.Frankly speaking, i'm jealous of you & Slug's luck. :) Anyways, better luck next time.

Oh it's not just luck. It's skill a,nd talent as well. Luck is just a byproduct of a lot of hard work and time put into these contests. Both Slug and werty very active participants on dozens and dozens of forums, perhaps hundreds. They put their time effort, and talent forth in each contest while serving as integral parts of the respective community. So I'd say the degree to which these too guys win has much less to do with luck and a whole lot more to do with skill and effort. Just my two cents.

That's not Werty.A member called Hackerx has been banned from DH forums because of his cheating in the contest.

sush and everyone, the competition that you're discussing is totally unrelated to the original voting compeition, and both are now done and finished. No need to keep dragging it out and being nosey. Head over to DH if you're so curious about it. BJ3D doesn't need to be spreading this type of stuff, whoever the user may be.

Edited my post.Is it ok now Tomato ? Thanks for the suggestion.:icon_tiphat:

Editing the post is to say that it originally a problem. The thing which ought to be changed is dragging the issues of another forum onto our own. I do remember this happening not too long ago and it has certainly happened before that. In each situation the same pattern emerges and the result is more or less the same, which is to say not positive. A good rule of thumb would be if there is an issue on another forum discuss, debate, and keep it there.

To do otherwise is not only nosy, but deeply intrusive; because while the internet is open we do expect some degree of privacy and security in our transactions. Why the passwords, the pseudonyms, the wiping out of an account, the anti hacking measures if we all would just as easily lay our lives on a silver platter for all the world to see? We the need for proxies, anonymous servers, confidentiality, and censorship if all the people of the world viewed their lives as an open source medium. It makes a person feel violated to do otherwise and that is exactly what you're doing.

Now you, or werty, or anyone else could come up with a thousand different arguments why it's ok: mutual action, presumed innocence, public justice, curiosity, or any number of other things. No matter the cause or the reason it is equally unacceptable and equally a violation of privacy. This doesn't only affect you and those who reference, but the community at large. When you pull a stunt like this it isn't just the person referenced who may feel violated. When you start pulling people's information from different sources, no matter how benign, it is really tracking someone else's movements aka surveillance. So if doing it to one person is acceptable then why not everyone.

The rub is that it means anyone can just as easily track your movements, compile that information, and use it against you without any regard for privacy or security. How can anyone feel safe in an environment where you could just as easily be interrogated as praised. Certainly we should not degrade ourselves to the level of violating the trust of others to advance a discussion. To put fear into the hearts of our peers and violate their security of our own whim and for anything less then the most dire and extreme of circumstances. Is it any wonder that this role is expressly that of a government and not the individual?

The internet is not only neutral, but also anonymous. There is a web of trust that those who would choose to keep certain information hidden have a right to and that information is their domain alone. It is a fundamental notion that the missteps of one instance should not be used in justification of another. How can we have real, intelligent dialog if everyone comes into it questioning each others motives to such an extent that they would rather spend hours justifying that perception then taking a few minutes in considering their point and the possibility of a change in attitude. Not to mention that in doing so they poison the image of that individual to the wider community along with that of themselves.

If you consider the consequences you have to see that this sort action is not only fundamentally wrong, but destructive and arguably illegal as well. Wouldn't we rather create an environment of understanding rather then intolerance? A community of hope rather then fear where we can all find our place and our voice? Rather then being a model of the discord, which effects the rest of the world I challenge you to hold yourself to a higher standard and cast of the fear that stymies growth and slows progress. Surely that is an ideal worth fighting for and one for which it is worth casting off these destructive habits of late.

This is a message that goes out to all forum members to mind their surrounding and consider their judgments carefully, because when breach the rights of one you are really encroaching on the rights of us all.
