Hi y'all,

Am waiting for my XFX stuff coming from my local pc store.
I hope to get it this coming week.
Now was my question: Do i need to install an operating system first to update the BIOS?
Or can this be done before that?
I am gonne run Windows XP , the 32 bit version. For now.
And do i need to install the raid drivers seperately? Now i run XP with a Pentium 4 and if i want to reinstall Windows i have to load the raid drivers from a floppy drive.
I know with Vista you can load the SATA drivers from the Vista cd.
So any suggestions on this would be helpful before i am gonne setup my rig.
Also do i need to place the memory sticks in 1 slot together or 1 in the first slot , the second slot i leave open, then the second stick i put in the third slot, leaving one slot in between open?

My apology if i typed or say mistyped something; i am from The Netherlands and my english is reasonable.

My rig:

CoolerMaster Real Power M620 Modular, ATX12V
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.40GHz,1066MHz,S775, Box
OCZ NVidia SLI XTC 2GB(2x1G) PC2-6400,800MHz
XFX nForce 680i LT SLI, S775, 4xDDR2, GLAN
XFX GeForce 9600 GT XT 512MB, PCIe

Thanks in advance,

Cya,

Emmer............

You don't necessarily need to update your BIOS but it wouldn't hurt to do so.

If you are gonna be running RAID, then yes you'll need to load the RAID drivers when told to do so.

You shouldn't have any problems using a SATA drive.

As for your memory configuration, install one in slot 1 and slot 3 or slot 2 and slot 4, its your choice.

Thanks for the reply, helped alot.
Currently i am running my SATA drives at JBOD.
So, 2 seperate drives.
That shouldn't be a problem?
For example: when i disconnect drive two at startup it recognises only one disk, of course. With both connected the system recognises 2 drives.
That stays the same i assume?
