2006 YZ450f

Dealer has a 2 year old YZ450f, they have 08s on the showroom and the 450f is showing wear from all the people sitting on it and everything. So I am just going to go make a ridiculously low offer and see if I can get it. So I will have a 250f and a 450f 50th Anniversary Yamaha.

Yeah, good luck Miker. It looks like a really nice bike all around, so if you can get a good price on it that would be awesome. Assuming they accept the offer post some photos of it up once you bring it home.

So is it going to be exactly that color or is that just a photo you quickly posted of it?

Dirt bikes only come in one color, this was a special 50th Anniversary year so they had a optional Yellow.

Bank, AKA Dad, hasn't said I can spend the money yet...

Well I offered 4k and they told me "It was 7,100 new, I can let to go for 6,700."

I just left with my check.

It is a 2 year old bike, that has bad sun damage...

You totally lowballed them. What did you expect? Would you not have felt insulted if you were the saleman and someone offered you the same amount?

Would you go to a car dealer and buy a 2 year old car, that someone bumped into the bumper for the full price 2 years ago?

I never said full price... It's obviously not taking up any needed space on their salesroom floor, and by holding for for so long, the dealer is most likely not racing to sell it. And he simply countered your offer. You could have countered that and went from there.

If you haven't got a bike before in your life this is how it normally goes. You see a brand new bike on the floor and it is $6,200 + 6% Tax and like $800 is made up fees. You say $6k out the door, and get it. (How I got the 250f)

Dirt bikes hold there value like a hamburger, soon as you walk out of the door is half the value. In 2 years, it is $2,000.

It is going to need $500 or so in repairs soon as I buy it too, that is how messed up it is.

He made he laugh. He put his hand on the seat and say. "Yep, it is just like new."

Well I guess my 450f dream is over, unless he calls.

Dealer called me today. They fired the guy that was "helping" me and found my number with info about wanting the 450f. He offered to give it to me for 3,5k and sell me all the repair parts at cost, but I don't have the money any more. :-(

That blows man. Too bad he wasn't around a month ago.
