Hi all,

I am having problems getting a display from my recently bought system on Tiger Direct:

XFX 8800 GTX
XFX 680i lt
Q6600
Gamestream 700 watt PSU
Antec P182 case
2X 1024 OCZ RAm

Upon powering the computer on, all three of my case fans power on, along with the two on the motherboard, CPU fan, and the graphics card. The motherboard has three glowing led's, blue, green, and amber. I've tried the graphics card in each PCI Express slot to no avail. My monitor is analog so I use a VGA to DVI converter, which I have tested on my current PC's video card and it works just fine.

I am not sure what possibly could be wrong with the computer. The PSU is powering all the components fine. I suspect a possible bad motherboard, cpu, or graphics card?? I also am not getting any Beep codes. (I removed the graphics card and the memory to see if the motherboard would beep at me, I didn't get anything). I know there have been several threads with similar problems, but I can't seem to find a solution anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

That motherboard will not give beep codes. Have you tried on stick of RAM at a time? Are you using the standard Intel CPU cooler or a different one? If it is a cooler that has the bracket that mounts to the bottom of the motherboard, try booting with out the CPU cooler on (just a very short boot to see if you get a signal is all).

I have tried one stick of ram at a time. Also I do not have the stock Intel cooler, it is the Freezer 7 Pro by Arctic cooling. So you would suggest I try booting with the heatsink off on to see if I get any signal from the computer?

You don't have a heatsink on now? :icon_shock:

My guess is the RAM is so out of spec from what is set in BIOS that it won't boot, maybe boot up with some cr*p RAM, then set the volts up to what it needs to be, then put in the OCZ.r

I actually don't have any spare DDR 2 laying around to test. Any other suggestions?

The RAM you have needs high volts to run right, my guess is you are not getting a post because the RAM won't run at stock volts.

What OCZ ram is it? there are many types, If its OCZ platinum rev2 like I use then all I can say is I had no problems in that area when first booting the board with that memory, no extra volts were needed.

Plz post more details on your system, one thing comes to mind: Does your PSU have enough Amps on rails to run your GTX card.

It is the OCZ Vista Upgrade Edition Dual Channel 2x 2Gig PC6400 DDR2 800MHz

Along with:

OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI ATX12V 700W.

The power supply has 4 12v rails and is SLI ready. I believe it is up to specifications to run all of my components. The GTX has two 6 pin PCIe power connectors and I have both connectors from my power supply plugged in.

Just curious, but if my keyboard lights up even though I am not getting any video signal, does that mean my motherboard is working properly?

Only if you can toggle caps lock (that button is software controlled on USB keyboards AFAIK). Otherwise the motherboard is only supplying the power, and not responding to the keyboard events.

EDIT: BTW, I have the same RAM, CPU and PSU. I can only get my system to boot if I reset the CMOS using the on board jumper beforehand :(

I had the exact same problem when I installed my board. Power, lights, but no video/post. After trying the usual fixes, I re-seated my cpu in the socket and noticed the socket mechanism was hard to close, more than other boards I have used, so I had to play with it until it would close more easily. After that, the system booted up fine. No probs since. I also think my water block was a bit too tight as well. Seems like this board is sensitive around the socket!!!
