I'm looking for a new monitor. I know NEC, Samsung, Viewsonic and Dell all make great monitors and they get great reviews. I'm thinking of a 24" or 27" LCD with 1000:1 brightness and less than 5ms response time. What I'm look for is crispt picture with vibrent colors for gaming. Do not wan wash out color and ghosting. Can anyone recommend a solid 24" or 27"?

I can't recommend any specific model but I would go with either Samsung or Hanns-G.

Btw, Samsung makes Dell's monitors. That's why they're good.

HAHA. I don't know why but it seemed sort of funny and interesting when xero said "Samsung makes dell's monitor. That's why they're good". I prefer Samsung since they've got good designs, specs, and they are trustable.

I have a Dell ultrashapr 2007wfp and I really like it. I mainly got it over a Samsung at the time because I wanted the USB inputs on the monitor. They are really convenient for me.

I just got a Dell 2408WFP - it's fab. USB hub and card reader built in. No dead pixels, and a 4 year warranty.

Picture quality is really a huge step up from my old 19" and it works really well. I'd recommend this as I think it has all the criteria you're looking for.

The only tech difference in the 2 dell 24"monitors is that one is 1000:1 ratio and the better one is 3000:1 contrast, and the card reader and usb ports. Who needs extra usb ports at this point. I think I've got like 400 in the back of my computer,,;-)
My LG is still going strong but I'd like to get a 24 incher, that's alotta real estate.
I've seen the cheaper dell wide screen and it's real nice, Assassin's Creed looks really good on it.

Which ever monitor you choose Make sure to take a look at some display models of which ever monitor you are planning on choosing as your own eyes are your best form of judgment. What good to some might not be good for you.
