Hey guys, just wondering if any one has this processor. I was thinking of replacing my old PD805 because it hogs up quite a bit of energy overclocked as well as produced a lot of heat.

I looked at some benchies and the Celeron preformed as good as some midranged C2Ds when overclocked past 2.6GHz but I am not sure how much more power an overclock will require from it.

I also just ordered a Cool Master Gemmin 2 for my pentium D so I will have a nice cooler to overclock with as well.

Any Opinions?

Updating from a old, bad CPU, to a old, bad CPU is not a good idea, just wait till you can get a C2D.

but the celeron dual core just came out like a month ago. It is also based on the allendale core, same as the Pentium dual core except with half the cache?

Intel doesn't give a CPU the Celeron name unless it is really, really bad.

You have you CPU up high in Ghz so I would just keep it, or get a C2D. Celeron will be the same, or worse.

It is worth noting more cache can be bad for some things, the 2MB of L3 Cache on my CPU slows it down at video rendering, but speeds up games.

The Pentium D = Netburst based processor
Pentium Dual Core = based of Core2
Celeron Dual Core = Based on Core2

The celeron dual core is not like the older celeron D but much better.

Don't spend the money to upgrade to a still slow CPU, get a C2D or stay with what you have. I upgraded from a 2.8Ghz P4 to a 3.4Ghz and I regret it, save your money and get something new and great.

Yea save the cash and get a frys C2D combo if you have to you can always dump the ECS board later.

I actually like this ECS board. It supports everything I need and more as well as support for Core2 processors.

I guess I will just stick with my processor for a while longer then....
