:help:

I think this might be something with my headphones but they work perfectly fine on my other computer. Either that or the front panel, but anyway.

I recently got the xfx 680i LT which everyone knows that the realtek audio sucks but when i first plugged in my headphones i didnt get any sound or anything so i updated xfx drivers and made it so the front panel does not need to be detected. now when i plug in my headphones i get partial sound but not much, i have to really hold it in a certain position to get everything audible. Also, when I was playing TF2 i couldnt get my mic to work.

I was thinking of buying a new headset but im not sure if it'll fix the problem. probably a USB headset so i won't have to deal with this but I'd rather not spend $60+ for one because mine works perfectly fine on my other computer. I'm thinking it's probably something wrong with the drivers. I tried plugging it into the back but it still won't read the line in jack for the microphone.

any help is appreciated

if i need to buy a new headset please recomend one

Do the headpones work OK on the rear panel sockets? If so then either your front panel or teh connection to it has a problem. As you say that you have to hold the jack in a certain position to get sound I think it more likely that your front panel jack socket has a problem.
