The age of the Universe is 13.73 billion years, plus or minus 120 million years. Some people might say it doesn’t look a day over 6000 years. They’re wrong.

+/- 120 million years...:)

I dont believe it is that old. Max would be 100,000 years, maybe even 50,000. Show me proof otherwise.
Dont even try the dinosaur thing or carbon dating because we humans have bearely tapped the technology needed to test age.

13.73 billion years old, that'd make it 3 days older than me. :jawdrop:

Were did you get the 50,000 - 100,000 years from. Probably more accurate then your number but i do agree they are probably wrong, through out history science and math has been proven wrong so many times with everyone 100% sure they are right. Whats to say our science isn't faulty either granted way better then before but i know we will be proven wrong in the future.

not to start a debate or anything.. but for the people who insist the world is 6000 years old.. is it even possible for dinosaurs to come and go, and 6.5 billion people populate from two individuals in that short time

I like #4 "The Universe is flat!". Kinda reminds me of the primitive early days when people thought the Earth was flat. I wonder how this came to be if it was a big bang. When you get a good enough bang matter travels in all directions. Supposedly the universe was the biggest bang of all so I would have to wonder on the accuracy of that statement.
How old is the Universe? Does it matter? Not really because we as primitive beings still do not have much of a clue on the perception of time as a measurement in a decaying universe. I say perception of time because it is exactly that. We can guess and that is about it as everything changes as that is the only true constant of the universe. A turtle would look at you moving and would see only light moving very quickly. A fly would see you moving in slow motion. The perception of time is felt through all species, races and matter and is constantly changing. Even the Cesium clock changes and that is the most accurate time piece we have to date. Carbon dating is massively inaccurate on so many levels as you could not factor in the environmental differences over the course of time for whatever it is your dating. I love it when scientists look at rings in trees or layers of ice to predict years. It is horribly inaccurate. Is the universe 6000 years old. I doubt that very much and would also say it is in the millions if not billions of years in the making. We are simply too small and too primitive a species to even begin to understand our universe. Heck look at us now we barely have studied our own damn environment. I love the whole global warming thing with humans being at fault. Nice gimmick! It actually harms the environment more to recycle. But it does create jobs and keeps people attention doesn't it. Nah global warming could not be because of the solar blasts from the sun and is part of the Earth thermal cycle...can't be. Even though the actual science points to that it cannot be it. We as a species have grown pretty ignorant in finding truth. We rely on others for these truths because let's face it were not all Einsteins with the resources or understanding to find the truths. So we rely on others who have motivation for funding and the best way scientists have found for funding is by selling fear. Yeah it's not a proud thing but it is the economic cycle we have put them in. Why would anyone fund research on a specific bacteria if it does not provide some sort of financial or dramatic conclusion? Spice it up some. If we don't get funding soon this bacteria could evolve and take over other bacterial forms to create a super bacterial form that could rival our current antibiotics. Bingo! That will bring in the cash.
So how old is the universe? Who the hell cares as we obviously have our own damn screwed up world to take care of first before venturing off and spreading our own stupidity.

I'd say about half of the earths human population was caused from rap/hip hop culture within the past 10 years. So yes, it is possible.

lol, I bet you could get some funding to find out....j/k
@Sadasius, couldn't have said it better myself. I get so sick of hearing all of this global warming crap, its all just 'fear' to keep the money flowing. I mean seriously, look at all the the 'green' products that are flooding the markets now...there are so many levels that profit from keeping this going. I guess most people also forget how just back in the 80's they were predicting the next Ice Age
