Don't upgrade P4s, I upgraded from a 2.8g Hyper to a 3.4Ghz EE and though it is good I wish it was a C2D.

A 6800GT and a 2.8G I used for 4 years, it is a good combo.

I ran a pc with a P4 660 (3.6) with a 7800 gtx and later another 7800 gtx in sli and had good results with it.

Thanks I have just bought a 2.8 Ghz P4. Its a pretty nice one for socket 478. Info Here (http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL7E3) on Intel's site.

I have a 3Ghz P4 Northwood. I was lucky enough to get one of the last ones available when the hotter running Prescotts had become they're main line of CPUs over 3 yrs ago. It's been very stable and reliable with just the stock cooler, but I doubt you could find one. If I could find a dual core for socket 478 I'd have upgraded and sold it long ago though. The main reason I don't pass recommended spec on most of the newer games is a lack of a dual core CPU.

I also have a P4 Northwood,it goes pretty well with my 6800 Ultra, but I heard that the P4 for this card is kind of a bottleneck, but I cannot upgrade because the card is on AGP,there aren't a lot of motherboards out there to buy with an AGP slot to keep my Ultra

6800 Ultra is a match for a P4, as they came out at the same time. A 7950GT will be bottlenecked by a P4 though.

Mmmm singlecores. I bought an Athlon 64 single to see how far I can clock it, just for S&G.

My 7950GT has been going like 4 months or something with out any problems other then the blue port, but because of the blue port when I want to upgrade I will just RMA it and get a 8800GT. So it is NFS.

*Edit* 2500th post.

O yea thats a good idea. 7950 GT's are pretty expensive brand new. The 7800 GS is like 210$
