I am downloading SP1 thru update right now. Says it is anywhere from 121MB to 761MB. My system is uptodate and is only downloading 121MB.

Thanks for the head-ups...:icon_tiphat:
I was reading about it a few days ago, that Microsoft will finally officially released the Vista SP1 on March 18. But today is the 19th already (at least for me ;-)) and I totally FORGOT ABOUT IT.
Going to D/L and/or install it right away...but...first I'm going to do a FULL IMAGE BACKUP, as I don't want to take the risk... (It's Microsoft afterall...;-))

I've had problems installing this. I've read on another forum that downloading and installing it from the website fixed his problem(freezing at 0%). I'm going to try and do this and hopefully it works. Hope this helps for the people who are also having problems.

Now that's strange...:jawdrop:
I've checked if my Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) is up-to-date through Windows Update and I DIDN'T SEE any SP1 update available.
It DOES appear in Microsoft website, but only for subscribers, while for non-subscribers the only way to d/l it is through Windows Update and I don't seem to have it there...:frown:
Anyway, I'll wait a day or two for it to appear through my Windows Update and if not, I'm gonna subscribe Microsoft MSDN and download it manually I guess...

My guess is the 32bit is finished, and the 64bit is still working.

Hope you're right, although according to Microsoft Download Center BOTH versions (32-bit and 64-bit) are ready for download. Maybe the 64-bit just isn't available (yet) through Windows Update.
That's why I said I'll wait a few days before jumping into conclusions...;-)

That's very strange. I'm using exactly the same version as yours and I also cannot see it through windows update.
Anyway, I've already managed to d/l it manually through Microsoft Download Center.
I had to d/l the whole ~730MB since I didn't do it (if only I could) through Windows Update.
I'm a bit busy right now so I might install it in a few hours...
UPDATE:
I've just finished intalling SP1 and the installation/upgrade went smoothly!
I don't see any difference (and actually, I didn't expect to see any ) but at least everything is working now and hopefully my OS is more stable and more secure now...;-)

For those not seeing it in Windows Update...
Did you have all other updates current? Perhaps it doesn't show if the two prerequisites are not installed?

Nope...mine with up-to-date with all prerequisite updates, but I personally don't care anymore as I've just applied SP1 manually...;-)

Yes, mine is up to date. The only thing that keeps needing to be updated is Windows Defender.
Just curious, does it show SP 1 in the properties?

Using Home Premium 64 bit. After SP1, I am now experiencing random crashes of my video driver. I have never had this type of problem before.
Any compelling reason to have SP 1?

I've been using SP1 for two weeks and haven't noticed any real difference.

I will be doing a clean install of Vista Home Premium this weekend. Is it worth while to go ahead and download SP1 and installing it before I load anything else? I have only done one other load of Vista, but it was not for me and I have not worked with it.

Installed Vista Ultimate x64 on my AMD rig yesterday, but I have a problem. I can't shut the computer off! It powers down just fine, but a few minutes later it starts up again on its own. I thinks it's possessed :smile_evil:

Lol, I haven't had/heard of that problem. But it would probably make me laugh if it happened to me. I'll have a chat with Google and see what he says.
EDIT: Try updating your BIOS.

It kind of freaked me out the first time it started on its own, but after it did it a few more times I said Hasta La Vista Baby :)
